As an educator who has worked in public, charter and private schools, I highly recommend sending them to private school.

There is no way in the hell I will send my kids to a public school when I have them.

Can you expound on your no way in hell? Don’t private and public schools have to teach the same state curriculum and testing?

The school is diverse but there is a lot of liberal whites running the school. I am deathly afraid of that brain washing. Definitely going to have to keep my foot on their neck when it comes to blackness. I’d be sick if they started c00ning. :scust:

You can have all of that at a good school, and those schools do a better job of providing the opportunities to bump up your resume. My school had 1/3rd of the graduating class attend Ivy League schools, so not even counting the kids who went to MIT, Stanford, Northeastern Vanderbilt, etc. and I know kids who went to a phenomenal public school with better grades, extracurriculars, test scores, all of that and got rejected by the top universities our A-B students got into.

At a top university, it's clear how many of the other kids went to great high schools and there are a lot of kids here with tons of other kids from their high schools who got in.
I totally get that and had similar experiences when I went to boarding school. But the various free afterschool/weekend programs that support kids from like 3rd grade to highschool certainly has connections and a track record of getting their kids into great schools because of their alumni network and reputation of having quality students

So a "good" public school complimented by the free after school/weekend curriculum and hiring solid tutors, is a strategic cost effective and quality based education plan

It definitely is worth it, if the school is high quality.
Are you thinking day school or boarding school?
Definitely keep them w/ other Black kids, whether through Jack and Jill, or other local programmes (sports leagues, hobby groups, music groups, etc.) so they have a good balance.
If you have bright, driven kids, private school will do wonders for them. I went to public, magnet schools, and was in Gifted-and-Talented/Major Works/Honors the entire time but I had a lot of private school friends and outside of mathematics, their educations exceeded mine, just by the rest of the class being forced to keep up and pacing not being an issue like it is in public school.

It's fabulous don't get me wrong, my aunt went through it that way to a fabulous outcome and I know kids who did great with a similar path, but if you have the opportunity to send your kids to private school you should take it.

Either home school or private.

No need to let the government educate your kids with their demonic doctrines.

I’m a product of public school and my wife went to private school all the way through highschool.

Only difference is I graduated from FSU and she graduated from an HBCU in computer science.

We have a 2 year old going on 3 who will be enrolled in private school.

Well, it all depends on where you are..I should have said that first. For example, here in Atlanta there is no way id send my child to a public school in DeKalb, Clayton or Fulton. Gwinnett County Public Schools are cool, and some Atlanta Public Schools are cool..

In the city, kids at public schools have no respect for authority and because of their home environments, they act a damn fool in class and school. you may be the best parent on Earth, but some parents dont give a fukk what their kids do, and in turn they could corrupt your kids.

Also, funding for public vs private is night and day. The private and charter schools have more resources and things to educate children with.

So yes, the curriculum is the same no matter where you are, but the types of kids your kids are around and resources make me say aint no way in hell id send my kids to a public school..

I sign the papers this week. :sadcam::sadcam:

Kids gonna get a great education, gonna have to cut back on frivolous expenses.

Going to try and buy a home in the best school system in NJ by the time they hit high school. Putting money aside for college at the same time.

Gotta sacrifice for the next generation.

Meh. I know a lot of kids who went, some are doing Better than others. Some only went to a state university and dropped out, and work regular jobs now. Don’t just put your kid in private school just to say you did it. Make sure the teachers have the credentials to help your kids grow in the areas you want them to. I really liked Montessori schools for that reason even though they’re not really considered private schools. The school I have him in now is one of the best in my city. Lots of celebs and businessmen send their kids there and I can definetly say that I’m getting what I pay for. Nonetheless I am thinking of putting him in the public school for our area because it’s one of the highest ranking in the city and the test scores are excellent. You may be able to just put them in public school and invest that money into private tutors and coaches for them. Do you live in an affluent mostly white neighborhood? If so you can probably get by with just public school

I live in a middle class town with high end sections and low end sections. I’m financially in the middle and the schools are decent. Most of the higher end residents send their kids to private schools in the neighboring town. I just want to cut to the chase and move to the neighboring town with the better public schools once my wife starts working full time.

Above the fray.
I’m about to enroll my kids in private school. They are both gifted. The older one is very artistic and I could see him being a writer or some type of visual artist someday.

The younger one is 4 and reads fluently, plays piano and is doing 2nd grade math.

Our local public school is decent but of course has big classes and kids that just go to school to play around.

Is private school worth the cost and investment?

I’m looking at a 100’s of thousands of dollars k-12.

Would it be wiser to put them in public schools, with after school tutuoring and activities, saving that tuition money for college and trust funds for them?

Any experiences with private scholars Coli brehs? :sadcam:

Are you saying that you're enrolling your children MID-year into a private school?

Or that you're signing up and handling the paperwork so that they can enroll when the next school year starts?
