Wade County
If Wade takes a $50 million/4 year deal, that's $12.5 million against next year's cap. I'm assuming Bosh takes a similar deal so that's $25 million between the both of them. Bron would probably sign something that starts at $15 million, so that $40 million for the big 3. Cole is the only one guaranteed at $2 million and if Haslem opts in we will be at $46 million.

Next years salary cap is projected to increase by $5 million so that will make it about $63 million. So that would give us $17 million to work with.

:manny:
Don't expect $17 million. It's a bit more complicated than that. First off, Bosh probably isn't taking 4 years/$50 million. He's worth far more than that in free agency and doesn't have to take such a severe salary cut. I'm also not so sure Lebron will take $15 million starting either. Starting at $15 million costs Bron at least $20 million over the life of the deal. These guys can make $20+ million a year now if they were maxed out. I think Bosh takes $15 million and Lebron could be as high as $18 million. Either way they need to do a lot of things to preserve good cap space...

- They MUST get Udonis to opt out and offer him something like 3 or 4 years/$6-8 million so he doesn't take so much away from the team's cap this year. If not, they have to ship him out with a future draft pick.
- Every player they have, even if they're free agents, have cap holds for 150% of their last year's salary on the cap. They have to renounce every player's rights, except for the Big 3, to maximize cap space, which might mean losing Chalmers.
- The players they draft will only cost the team about $1.5 million in cap for both. Hopefully they keep both.
- They'll have a cap hold for having fewer than 12 players on the roster. Those are $500k each and are offset by the salaries of newly signed players. So there will be a hold of somewhere between $2-4 million depending on who's on the roster on July 1.

I think the Big 3 will cost the team somewhere between $45-50 million in cap space this season, assuming D. Wade takes that $50 mil deal, and depending on how generous Bosh and Bron are. Cole + Draft picks + Cap holds will end up totaling $6.5 million in cap, without Udonis or Chalmers.

It's probably going to be more like $10 million, and that's if Riley pulls off a heist like George Clooney in Ocean's 11. He has a lot of work to do. :whew:

The summer should be an interesting one for former second overall pick Michael Beasley, who is a free agent and is not likely to return to Miami after a disappointing second stint with the club. NBA sources said James was not pleased with Beasley’s focus and he lost the confidence of coach Erik Spoelstra shortly into the season. In one sequence that typified his career, Beasley swooped in for a tip-dunk in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. On the Spurs’ next possession, Beasley got lost on a pick-and-roll, allowing Diaw an open 3-pointer, which of course he swished. Beasley is likely to get a one-year deal on the open market and his past year in Miami did little to help his reputation Boston Globe

Bye Beas, it was fun.

I can see him on a team like that doesn't have much talent and could use a scorer next year. Wouldn't be surprised if he is on the Bobcats.
man the entire team was horrible on defense, to focus on Beasley is ridiculous.
they should be focusing on him Swooping in for a dunk, when the rest of the team sans Lebron could do anything on offense

Depending on what happens with Mario Chalmers, whose contract expires this offseason, Norris Cole could see a more important role on the Miami Heat next season.
Helping him prepare for next season is former Heat and NBA great Gary Payton, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Former NBA All-Star Gary Payton said he will work with Norris Cole this summer because “I like him a lot. I like his game. He needs to develop a floater in the middle.”

Cole said last week: “I believe I’m starter-caliber.” But certainly not yet.
