So, did HOGAN use the KLIQ, or did the KLIQ use HOGAN to their gain?

Because SOMEBODY was pulling somebody else's strings here.

Think about the timeline going back to the formation of the #Kliq

Hogan left WWF and was flopping hard in WCW (just facts)
#Kliq formed and made moves to put themselves in a position to make more money and move up the card (just facts)

Nash and Hall get the call from bischoff, and somebody pitches the idea for nWo; AT THIS POINT the story has been told in so many ways by hogan, bischoff, and nash, nobody TRULY KNOWS who 'had' the idea.

Outsiders align with hogan (or the other way around) and are immediately top billing and thus get top dough.

Contracts get rewritten, etc, and outsiders get the constantly-renegotiated contract that keeps them making more and more money. They hire 123 kid and he gets paid too. Meanwhile HBK and HHH are main eventing in WWF. All 5 players involved are winning big right now.

Fast forward, nWo comes back to WWF, all 3 get paid again. HHH is a made man. HBK is a made man. Outsiders back together and hogan is back.

Hogan and HHH main event Mania X8 in seperate matches. Hogan later beats nash for the belt, only for it to get bounced around between hogan, hhh, hbk for a while.

Hogan faces HBK, he wins. Hogan faces HHH. He wins. No return matches. :leostare: of course...kliq usually don't care as long as their paper is strong...

who used who here? One could say that the kliq used hogan to draw attention to their matches and get paid. one coud say that hogan used the kliq to stay relevant and cool and get over them for his legacy. They never bury each the other party in interviews and Nash puts hogan over big time. The only negative word they ever said was a worked promo by HBK to get heat.

Your thoughts on who's creative control was deeper here??

Well first of all I think Bischoff was the one with the original idea, then kicked it to all 3 of them and they must have been going crazy. In reality I think it extended ALL their careers for a VERY long time. In the end they ALL got what they want. Hall and Nash got paid, were known as the outsiders who changed wrestling and Hulk Hogan was needed to bring WCW to the heights that it reached.

So a couple of things about the start:
I think in the end they all used each other and all components were needed for it to work. Think about this for a second...Hogan's run as the hero was going on too long already. He needed to turn heel in the worst way. Razor Ramon already had the "bad guy" image so that legitimizes him as the "initiator" as soon as he landed on WCW Nitro...starting the "Beef"

Watch the anthology if you haven't...its amazing (until the inevitable drop off)

Hall as his "friend" legitimized it even more because now you have a former WWF champion on board...like "things just got real" :lupe:

Then to top it off? The 3rd man is HULK MOTHEREFFING HOGAN? YOU CONVINCED THE GOAT TO TURN HEEL? That is what made everything rise to the top and I don't think it could have been pulled off in ANY OTHER WAY. The group was completely legit by the time bash at the beach rolled around after ONE match...that has NEVER been done and will probably NEVER be able to be pulled off again.

It HAD to be Hall, then Nash, and then of course Hogan to complete the trio. Bischoff was a genius for that.

Has Bischoff taken credit for the idea? I find it really difficult to imagine a circumstance where Hogan could have come up with something that 'fresh' and new given what he was like prior.

Outsiders set up shop for Hogan to slide in and have a career revival and once they propped him up they ate off of his plate until the buffet was closed. No crumbs left untouched. No Hall and Nash, no Hollywood Hogan. HBK got paid to make Hogan look like a complete fool and shytted on him with no remorse. It isn't rocket science to figure out that the Kliq used Hogan.

Now Hogan is trying to plot an in ring return so he can make himself bleed like a pig while HBK hangs out with Austin and does hunting shows for fun. :smughickenbottom:

Hogan's initial WCW run wasn't a flop. It wasn't Hulkamania and it was kinda cheesy, but it was drawing money and the guy was doubling the buyrates that Flair, Stink, Vader, Savage were doing as main eventers.

The nWo angle was the perfect storm of a lot of things. As the gawd Lester Freamon said, "all the pieces matter."
