WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama said on Thursday he is sorry some Americans are losing their current health insurance plans as a result of his signature healthcare law.

Obama's expression of regret, in an interview with NBC News, was aimed at placating thousands of Americans whose insurance plans are being canceled in spite of his oft-repeated pledge that if people liked their health plans, they would be able to keep them under Obamacare.

"I am sorry that they are finding themselves in a situation based on assurance they got from me," Obama said.

"We've got to work hard to make sure that they know we hear them and we are going to do everything we can to deal with folks who find themselves in a tough position as a consequence of this," he said.

Disclaimer: voted for Obama twice, I support Obamacare and think it's going to do do some great things.

I can't stand how Obama constantly acts like he's not in charge of shyt. Like he's a bystander looking for the culprit guilty of something. Sure it's not Obama's fault the site isn't working, but at some point you have to lead and take responsibility. Does anyone think Obama was checking in on the website's progress, three months ago? I don't.

Anyone familiar with insurance knew that people would lose their plans. Many insurance companies quickly signed folks up for shytty plans they knew wouldn't meet requirements, just to fleece some folks before the law went into effect. The VAST majority of people will get to keep their plans, but the fact that about 3mil might lose their plans is a bad look. Even if that's a small number in the grand scheme of things, ultimately it's still a bad look.

This law has been rolled out in disastrous fashion and let's be real: if this keeps up it could kill the law. The law is based around young people buying insurance. If they don't, the premiums will increase. Right now the Medicaid expansion is working perfectly, but the exchanges ain't signing anyone up STILL. I know, back when MA created their law it had many problems, and folks didn't sign up until the last minute. Perhaps that will happen here too, which would be a good thing. But if it doesn't...

You still dont get it:stopitslime:

The Congressional Budget Office "estimates that as many as 20 million will lose their employer-provided health insurance under Obamacare. Former CBO Director Douglas Holtz-Eakin estimated in a study for the American Action Forum that the number will be 40 million."

You would go through

https://www.healthcare.gov/

Its a health care marketplace, think of it as a supermarket for healthcare. If you currently have health care you can keep it , or you can go to the market and shop around for better/cheaper health care which might be a option for you. The market will also be able to connect you to a health broker, basically there somebody who you tell them some personal info about yourself and they recommend healthcare options for you.

Ill provide a more detailed right up on Monday from some official paperwork , the job i currently has to deal directly with obama care

lmao sounds about right. or should i say "write" lol

just kidding, i hope this new health care system works out, but tbh im a little skeptical.

ive already heard stories about people not being able to keep their same coverage as promised by Obama and people are having to pay for things they just dont need, like prenatal vitamins.

The thing that gets me is, that the white house and Obama KNEW that people would not be able to keep their coverage but they just lied about it to try to gain/keep support for Obamacare

http://www.cnbc.com/id/101150855

Buried in Obamacare regulations from July 2010 is an estimate that because of normal turnover in the individual insurance market, "40 to 67 percent" of customers will not be able to keep their policy. And because many policies will have been changed since the key date, "the percentage of individual market policies losing grandfather status in a given year exceeds the 40 to 67 percent range."

That means the administration knew that more than 40 to 67 percent of those in the individual market would not be able to keep their plans, even if they liked them."

Juan Roberto's bald spot
Obama is a frustrating pol (was Clinton the same?)
One thing repubs got right is that he is a weak executive
Fortunately for him, Americans keep giving him a pass, they want him to succeed (for their own selfish reasons, not because he is a great leader but to justify their cray, pseudo revolutionary election of an outsider)
if he keeps playing with their emotions...its gonna get ugly :whew:

You employer might be offering obamacare price friend. Your $500 price sounds right if you have a family.
