Based on poor starts, and an inclination to go big, here's what I propose Woodson does with the lineup:

Start Pablo Prigioni at the point guard position with JR Smith as the shooting guard.

The move to start Smith is easy, especially if you consider the scoring pop he would bring to the start of games, which has been an issue for this team. You would have three top scoring options on the floor at once in he, Carmelo Anthony and Andrea Bargnani.

But what do you do with Raymond Felton? You bring him off the bench.

This may not sit well with Felton, but so far this season he has not been effective for the offense as a scorer or as a facilitator. Defensively, he has struggled mightily, especially in pick-and-roll coverage.

Plus, he might be more effective in a second-unit look with Amar'e Stoudemire and Metta World Peace.

Let's get a better understanding of this. Raymond Felton is 16th in the NBA in "touches" per game, which is a fascinating new official stat tracked by the NBA. Felton has 78.2 touches per game, which is basically how many times he has the ball in his hands each game.

That is more than Carmelo Anthony (70.2), the team's most important player. It's also more than LeBron James (75.3), who is the NBA's best player.

Now, yes, it's typical for a point guard to dominate the ball. Actually, 14 of the top 15 players in "touches per game" are point guards.

But the question to ask is if Felton dominating the ball works for the Knicks. The statistical proof on offense six games into the season suggests no.

Prigioni averages just 41.5 touches per game in his 20.6 minutes per game. His numbers this season have not been strong (His Usage percentage, 7.7%, is second-lowest on the team and Per 36 he is averaging 7.8 points, 4.1 assists, 3.8 rebounds, 1.5 steals and 1.5 turnovers) but last season he proved to be very effective in running the offense and promoting ball movement.

Prigioni is a veteran of the European circuit and has plenty of experience running teams as a floor general. With the Knicks, his role is often inconsistent as are his minutes.

With a little trust and an expanded role, he may be what this team needs to unlock its offensive potential.

But considering Felton's reaction, that is a very delicate decision for Woodson to make.

Do you agree?

Manimal for shump? That is definitely worth considering:ehh:. Fact remains there's plenty of tension between shump, woody and the Knicks organization. We are backlogged at the 2 spot and faried has a high motor and gets boards. :patrice:

Yeah but then what happens if they go for say kevin love in 2015 like the rumors say? That shyt creates a glut right there thats even worse since Melo and K love are going to play about 30+ a game and faried can only play the 4........:patrice:

Last thing the knicks need to do is something hasty. If they have plans (everyone knows they got plans) the worse thing they can do is make a trade when they are in a losing streak and find themselves getting raped. Take these L's until Chandler comes back and if they want to make a trade do it from a position of being on a winning streak.

Then Faried becomes an energy guy off the bench and likes it or is included in a sign and trade for Love. Or someone else. I'm sure Minn will do every thing in their power to keep Love.

that seems cool but why risk it? No team should ever trade during a losing streak..... the Knicks who other team GM's consistently treat like Marks should definitely not trade during a losing streak.

Also yeah Minn will do everything in their power to keep Kevin love. The team owner was asked how they expected to keep him a few days ago and he said something to the affect of "winning makes it a lot easier". I don't know who the knicks plan to get but i am iffy to get rid of shump a 2 guard when most of the best FA in 2015 are forwards and centers. The knicks mistake in 2010 was focusing on lebron. What they need to do is see the bigger picture and keep their options open.
