He won the superbowl with a team two years removed from winning a superbowl with not alot of turnover on defensive players. He has a top ten qb and yet has managed to go 8-8 twice and is almost 500 in the playoffs...In all the reasons I dont want to face pitt in the playoffs, Tomlin isnt one of them. He doesnt scare me as a coach, unless hes attempting to trip a player on my team from the sidelines. This has nothing to do with race, I just dont believe hes a great head coach

Product of rebuilding. When you lose guys like Polamalu, Clark, Farrior, Woodley, Hampton, Keisel, Smith, Taylor, etc there is gonna be some hard times, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Luckily it's looking like the D is getting back to form with young players like Shazier, Tuitt,Heyward,Hargraves, Burns, Cockrell, Dupree. Still need another edge rusher, but things are looking up

He's white and thus looks the part. That's really all this ever is. I'm a Lions fan. If Jim Caldwell was white he wouldn't face nearly as much hate. A lot of people are comfortable basically saying he's unqualified to do anything in the NFL, his success is only due to Peyton, etc. If he was white he'd be the "QB guru." And don't get me wrong, I got a LOT of problems with Caldwell and want him gone if/when we miss the playoffs. But jesus...
Tomlin has an amazing record. And yet if the Steelers were to have a couple bad seasons and he got fired, he'd struggle to find another HC job quickly and be passed over for various white OCs/DCs because they look the part.
White is the standard. If you're black you're automatically suspect - was this an affirmative action hire, is he pretending to be smart, is he a product of his players, etc.

Tomlin doesn't call any plays on the sideline.. Terry just looks at the optics and doesn't see Tomlin doin much..

This is a qbs league and generally speaking you can't win unless you have a good qb. Cowher didn't win until he got Ben. Yes Ben is a top 10 qb but he's also been inconsistent and somewhat injury prone. Seems like you're trying to credit him for all of the team's success under Tomlin while giving him none of the blame. He's been outplayed in the playoffs by opposing qbs which has contributed to the even playoff record. Was it coaching that caused him to get outplayed by Tim tebow?
