colbert was drafting players who didnt fit leabeu's system and the defense suffered. Since leabeu's been gone tomlins had more control over the defense and its rebounded. Calling them asscheek when theyve been top ten in ppg the last two years is fukking dumb

Not really

And by the way Tomlin has had to deal with the constant injuries to Roethlisberger, the injuries and suspensions to Le'Veon Bell, underperforming WRs like Markus Wheaton, a season long suspension to Martavis Bryant, and a makeshift defensive backs set. And he's still winning games.

He's a very good coach. But when healthy he has the best qb rb wr trio in the league. And if not for the Bengals losing their minds at the end of the playoff game last year he'd be going on 5 years without a playoff win

Tomlin has never had a losing season and he's 1 win away from three straight 10+ wins seasons.

That's a great coach. I don't know what kind of bar you guys are setting but coaches can't be expected to win the SB every year.
I'll grant you that he's gotta win some playoff games. But even if he doesn't win this year, there's no way you fire a coach like him.

There's something to be said about consistency and stability in an organization.
Just ask the Cleveland Browns...

Tomlin is kinda Chuck Pagonoish. :francis:

That McCarth/Rodgers shyt is crazy. Aaron Rodgers is top 5 ever at what he does. Mike McCarthy may not be top 100 of best coaches ever.

No way am I saying fire him. Steelers organization has always been stable. They very rarely have losing seasons no matter the coach

To me he's on a Cowher level. Very good not great

He's done too much goofy shyt the past few years. Between going for 2 uses of to's tripping players etc

Alright we'll let's put it this way...

How many coaches would you take ahead of him?

1. Belichick
2. Carroll

Those two are on a level by themselves.

But after that tier...it's basically

Tomlin
Reid
Payton
Rivera
Del Rio
McCarthy (and there are strong grumblings that his basic, predictable offense is the reason why GB struggles this year)

And I'd argue that Tomlin is probably at the top of that 2nd tier with Reid.

With respect to the season Rivera had last year and the season Del Rio has this year, they don't have as long a track record of winning to put them higher (in my view)

EDIT -- by the way, I think if he were still active (he's coaching Illinois in college), Lovie Smith would belong in that 2nd tier with Tomlin and Reid.

Exactly the post I came in here to make after reading the first few pages of this thread.
