You're just talking shyt. Tomlin's defenses points ranking and total yards rankings for his time in Pitt:
2007 - 2nd/1st
2008 - 1st/1st (the 2008 defense was an all time defense, too)
2009 - 12th/5th
2010 - 1st/2nd
2011 - 1st/1st
2012 - 6th/1st
2013 - 14th/13th
2014 - 18th/18th
2015 - 11th/21st
2016 - 9th/8th
That's 5 top 10 finishes in points, and 7 top 10 finishes in yards. 4 top 5 finishes in points, and 6 top 5 finishes in yards. And they're currently top 10 in each category right now.
I'm telling you right now if you go back and look at the stats you will realize that those stats are because of who we played. Look when we played against good QB's they torched us.
Pittsburgh has benefited like a muthafuka because of our division, when we played good quarterbacks we got roasted. Our defense has always been built to have great defensive ends and linebackers to make up for the weaknesses we had in the secondary. Ever since Lake and Woodson bogoodd our secondary had been trash, we looked good because of our Dline (Smith was so fukking underrated) was so good that they could pressure, with that the QB had to get rid of the ball quicker which meant that even an open receiver could catch because he hadn't finished the route.
When we got to the Superbowl against the Packers I talked shyt all season about how bad we were and that the stats ain't mean shyt because Rodgers was gonna eat good and look what happened.
Basically good Cline along with some good/great linebackers can make you look like a great defense.
Look at what happened in Superbowl 43 when Arizona got protection and Warner had time to throw the ball...damn near lost that game but on that last drive we were able to get pressure and cause the sack/fumble give that man two/three more seconds and Fitz is probably open somewhere and Holmes catch me and nothing.
