If you read the writings of both Greeks and Romans you’d realize Northern and Western Europe was absolutely shytted on. Northern Europeans is where the word “Barbarian” comes from. And they almost put black people (Egyptian and Nubians) on a pedestal.

The current world we live in now they probably couldn’t even fathom.
This. Germanic and Celtic tribes were viewed as inferior and barbaric. They actually had positive attitudes towards Africans from North Africa and East Africa

Also, stuff like this helps you put into perspective the idea of race being fluid and that our obsession with race is fabricated from our own social constructs to some extent.

It is all really just perspective.

I think race is largely based on power relations between groups. It’s a way of establishing hierarchies. Those with the least power get placed on the bottom “inferior” race.

You see this in Africa between different tribes. Now these people are all the same “race” in appearance but categorize themselves differently according to superiority/inferiority complexes

that’s dope man. Do you know if they had to pay rent back then?
Yup. Most apartment complexes had rent that was due once a year.Usually in July, which that month was painfully dreaded cause landlords were ruthless. There was a story of a guy who was late on rent by one day and he was forced to sleep under a bridge cause he got evicted. Tenants were allowed to sue their landlords in theory but the landlords were so powerful and often had the best lawyers available so it was almost guaranteed that you'll lose the case. Landlords even intentionally burned their buildings to collect insurance money (think of 70s Bronx).

@Get These Nets regarding your screenshot:

I know who those eastern Ethiopians are, they're south Indians, as Arrian of Nicomedia wrote in his Anabasis of Alexander: "the southern Indians resemble the Ethiopians a great deal in their countenance and complexion, except they are not quite so woolly haired or as broad in the nose."

All part of the same loosely related empire or more accurately trade network.

Ethiopia is the name given to the area and people by the Greeks.

The people themselves called (Ethiopia) Kush, and the Southern Indians you're referring to were the Indus Kush, or later Hindu Kush after the Aryan (cac) invasions.

We have to remember these borders and shyt we have today are all a very recent cac invention.

The invention of race was one of humanity's biggest mistakes

Race wasn't a human invention, it was a social, economic, and logistical invention, created by a group of humans, new on the world scene, that only knew how to figure out their place in the world by placing everything and everybody else into pretty little boxes for their own understanding.

It's like taking a toddler and placing them into a world they don't readily understand.

You have to teach them with building blocks to understand the basics, before you can begin to teach them the more abstract ways in which this world really works.

What ended up happening is, the toddlers realized that they could just break and dismantle what they didn't understand to have their way, they continued to grow in influence while the adults handled them with kid gloves, and we all had to end up suffering through their teen and early adult years, before they realized that destruction may not be the best way to go about things when you don't understand them.

They still haven't reached adulthood, but hopefully they'll be there soon.

They killed the Gracchi brother because the Roman plebs wanted to have Roman status over the tribes that kept rebelling

Even though Roman Patricians HATED plebs

No one uses Ethiopian for some red dot indians you un sanitized dumb ass fakkit:mjlol:

Between the Roman Empire and Nubia, the land immediately south of Egypt, there was a relationship and interaction that lasted seven centuries, from the first century BC to the seventh century AD.

700 years of interactions with Sudan Ethiopia and somalia :unimpressed:

B b b but they meant india:mjcry:

And nikkas Dapped him:skip:
Herodotus and Old Roman Historians said that theres two great Ethiopian empires. Sindh(eastern ethiopia) and egypt which was said by some to be an outpost empire for Ethiopians or an Ethiopian parent. Herodotus called India, Eastern Ethiopia. I have the Histories book and you can look some of this up

Theres a video of an Indian who was friends with John Henry Clarke. He was a Dalit who claims black, he hates upper caste Indians and went in on Hinduism(which he called Brahanism). He said the Ganges was named after an Ethiopian King. Ethiopians also lived with Egyptians in the city of Ammon. Theres also a Bengali God who is the same a Bantu God
