:whoo: 1st of all, I'm still building my collection of 4K blu-rays, secondly I'm at 11.2 CH surround-sound. Can only imagine beyond, might has well be in the movie.

The first 8K satellite TV broadcasts launched today in Japan

As scheduled, at 10 AM local time on December 1st Japanese TV networks began publicly broadcasting 4K and 8K channels via satellite. Even after a couple of years of testing, NHK is currently the only one pushing content at 8K with 22.2 channel sound. The first movie listed in its TV guide is 2001: A Space Odyssey, and the BBC reports that Warner Bros. rescanned the film's original 70mm negatives specifically for this broadcast.

We've only seen the beginning of a push for 8K this year, but now that there's actually a channel on the air somewhere it seems likely that things will ramp up next month at CES 2019. In Japan there's an incentive to get going as quickly as possible in preparation for the 2020 Olympics, but we'll need to see more information about pricing, content and have a look at the TVs ourselves before we can tell if a resolution upgrade beyond 4K is even worth it.

I have a Sony 55 inch 4K but don’t have a PS4 Pro or XboxOneX to make the TV do what it do

I’m hustling backwards:snoop:

Will get this situation remedied by Xmas either as a gift from someone or I’m going to have to buy it for myself:mjcry:

Meanwhile, in the US damn near nothing's broadcasted in 4K.

I still don't even have a 4KTV

:yeshrug:

I'm in the same boat as you brother:wow:

No, you actually hustled the correct way:salute:

You got the tv...... shyt the system can come whenever:whew:

shyt if anything I'm hustling backwards..... I got the system (copped that Xbox 1 X bundle with 2k and RD2 a few weeks ago, still in the box) and now waiting to get the tv for Christmas.

I'm now just trynna do my research and decide which ones are the best ones for what I want and the price I wanna cop it for. Also though I'm loyal to Samsung, I'm entertaining Sharp, Sony, and etc to see quality to price wise what are the pros and cons?

shyt, you good my G and I commend that:obama:

ATSC 3.0 will support 8K....Broadcast networks are still on 720p/1080i
they can do 1080p now but don't think 1080p is worth the jump, prob gonna skip 4K too and jump to 8K

4K is the new 720p, 8K is the new 1080p

I copped a 720p HDTV in 2008 and felt like a dumbass in 2009 not making that mistake again

keeping my 1080p shyt until 8K supported here

There actually is a bunch of 4K content. Netflix, Amazon Prime, PS4 Pro, X1X, 4K blu-rays, PC games, etc.
Yeah they must be talking about 4K cable television because 4K is everywhere else now. With 55” TCL 4K TVs being $600-$700 I don’t get why anyone wouldn’t make the jump to 4K already.
