The NBA could rival (maybe even beat) the NFL but it's ineptly managed

Funny how the salary cap works... didn't hear anyone downplaying the NFL when the Giants/Cowboys/Niners/Reskins were on top. Let all these bum teams on top, let all these crappy cheapshot artists in the league with no fundamental skills through expansion, and the league began to fall off. Shame. In 20 years people will point to Goodell's picture in the book "How to ruin America's New Number One Sport For Dummies" SMH. @SubZeroDegrees @portcityplaya

Nah, it dont appeal to Bubbas in the South and parts of the Midwest which represent a huge faction of the US populace. Especially in the South like Alabama and south georgia. They live die and breathe college football. They could give two fukks about the NBA and the NFL but they will watch NFL 10-1 over those people they consider to be negro "thugs" in the NBA

I know some country white dudes in Alabama that watch the NBA, and the Lakers are actually their favorite team. Even participate in that basketbtall fantasy league shyt. Stereotype people brehs.....

if these big time soccer leagues haven't become global despite having a bigger audience what makes people think the NBA will?

1) southern gumps will never tune in 2) a league that has Joey Crawford as a ref should never be considered a rival ( matter of fact, if the ref can sway pt spreads and/or you can predict who's winning a game based on who's reffing, then it will never be taken seriously)

That's impossible to replicate. I get it. You want basketball games to be do or die all the time, that's fine, but that's a hard thing to duplicate, and it wouldn't work as well for a Finals. You don't need 2 weeks to get ready for 1 basketball game.

If basketball's your thing, fine. Don't worry about where it stands in the pecking order of sports in America. It's not going anywhere.
You see it though. NFL parity is kind of a myth because of the one and done playoffs. That's part of the draw. If the NBA and MLB did that, people would be talking about how fair the NBA and MLB is all of a sudden. Marketing BS IMO.

Exactly what I'm sayin.

Obviously we know it can't be done but if the football post season was a series of seven games each round, the teams who you knew were better goin in would win 90% of the time too. If you allow that much room for error, eventually talent is gonna win in the end and a guy like Peyton Manning would definitely have a few more rings.

The reason there's parity in the NFL is not because the teams are all closer in talent, but because the post season lends itself to a more competitive balance. If the NBA were 1 and done like the NFL... or if it had something close, it would have the same thing. And it would be better.

In the current system, the NBA champion can be crowned even after going 16-12 in the post season. That is the absolute WORST record you can have in the playoffs and still be champion.

In my proposed system the worst you can go is 7-3. You CAN'T win the championship if you lose more than 3 games. That's pressure. That's excitement. That's proving yourself. That's how you should crown the champion.

Why would fans want less of their sport?

Obviously, less games would decrease predictability and increase the excitement of individual games...but wwill it maximize profits? Absolutely not.

Nah youre wrong it is because teams are all close in talent a hard cap makes it a even league because teams change rosters so drastically year to year its why you dont see dyansties anymore.

Before the hard cap you had dynasties and teams that were so much beter then anyone else and would dominate which you dont see anymore, its the reason super bowls are so close these days comapred to the 80's where you had so many blowouts all thee teams are pretty even in talent

The products mediocre in the nfl these teams arent any good even the bets ones but theyres unpredictability now

Well placing importance on every game has a value to it. I love the NBA but there are times where I just zone out. The season is so long and teams really can coast for long periods.

If I were commisioner I'd start the season about the time that the NFL regular season is dying down and finish up the NBA Finals right around the 4th of July(50-55 game season? Something like that)

More importance on individual games, yes, but not enough to make up for the loss in revenue from missing those games.

Y'all think they made more money last year or during the lockout year?
