To be honest, tay roc has a lot of battles with bars like that and people saying he bodied something

But people will only admit that when a battle rapper becomes more likable. People are starting to appreciate what DNA has done, so they will finally go back and admit roc didn't win that one too easily. People still hate jc so they won't admit the basic bullshyt roc said in that battle. It took a long time before people finally admitted clips was on some bullshyt, they just liked him so much that all he had to do was go in a battle and not get killed, make you laugh harder and fans were giving him wins.

My criticism isn't unique to this board, it's about battle rap in general. Going back and watching a battle, doesnt provide proper clarity if you already know what's gonna happen. Of course a scary movie isn't as scary the 2nd time around because you know when the jump scenes are coming. But hey that's just me. Still got Lux losing.

So you've never watched a debatable battle ever in yo life? .....it's always been a clear cut winner to you every time?.

If Jc didn't recycle that 1st round he would of got it clear 2-1. So in hindsight it's not the most popular answer but it's truth. Roc won by default 2-1.

Hate when people say lux and hollow didn't live up to the hype. That's a top 5 battle ever to me. Even live on ppv that shyt was EPIC.

High Stakes 1 was a great card from top to bottom. I enjoyed all the battles

And like you mentioned before, Hollow went at Lux when Lux put the fear if God in battlers everywhere. Hollow doing that and having a classic debateable was what put him in the GOAT convo.

Thats how I feel about Roc vs Hollow too. If Roc beats or has a classic with Hollow Roc is solidified in GOAT convo imo.

I'm not saying some battles aren't debatable (I felt like Hollow Lux was debatable after FIRST watch), I'm saying that "revisiting" a battle and then changing a consensus is a flawed premise because "moments" matter.

JC's first against Roc when I watch now is really not that crazy. Even without the recycling it's just a average round. He had some lines here and there. JC had more filler in those days.

I would fault him more, if it was a situation like rex, where a person was caught multiple times etc, the fact jc is not known for that and has taken as many battles as he has and produced as much new material as he has, and as I can't recall hasn't choked (unless it's a time I'm forgetting remind me if it is) for me that's enough to give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest he sincerely didn't think the battle was dropping and again, all battle rappers have done that, as in spit bars from a battle that didn't come out, been vaulted etc. I've heard that's the main reason Yung Ill vs con hasn't dropped, because con has used the bars again.

And he was spitting his own shyt, not someone else's. He didn't lose integrity imo.

You would have to totally ignore the actual material and just judge crowd reaction to give roc that win. He said some very horrible lines that battle. AhAt level bad bars in that battle. People clown surf for his bars vs surf, revisit some of that bullshyt from roc in that jc battle.

Yeah i agree he redeemed himself and he has enough credit as a lyricist for that situation to not haunt him. Hell its never even been brought up by an opponent. But for me personally he lost that round by default.

You never judge battles like clips, or goodz etc based on how good they came that battle. Yet you bring that standard now with jc. That's why it's hard to take your analysis serious because you switch your standards on how you judge based on how much you like a battle rapper or not. Now it's about jc not being his best that battle? How many battles have clips been mediocre in and you still handed him the win?

Jc has been better, but roc has been better as well, and roc is levels better than he was then, but who cares, if they both mediocre, then judge the mediocrity.

Roc won that battle man lol. He had more haymakers and more memorables moments in that battle. All I remember were Roc's shyt. Especially that 2nd round
