I think this is being over analyzed. JC, like it or not, has enough attention from battle rap that fans, leagues (we think), and Lux are willing to entertain the match. It's an enormous opportunity for any battle rapper and it doesn't come around twice. If he is seizing the opportunity, wtf else is he supposed to do but talk shyt and exude confidence? Or should he be on some "no I'm not ready sensei" shyt and forever wear that self inflicted L?

Goodz n lux talk finally dead :blessed:
I'm with you here. Goodz has his own special category.. but who the hell really listens to three rounds of him and comes out thinking he was dope through and through? He's pretty much a gimmick battler. I already spoke on the weirdness of grown men being charmed by his "swag."

Whether or not the pen dudes (or as @theflyest puts it.. "pen" guys :russ:) are on the Lux performance level, I truly believe we're more likely to get a memorable and competitive battle than some forced old guard v. old guard shyt. So long as the newer dude doesn't choke, anyway.

Goodz is a very effective battle rapper and not everyone's cup of tea.

As far as "pen" guys, I still view them in a couple of different categories.

Pen guys that can perform well:
Lux
Verb
Big T
Daylyt

Maybe O-Red, but the URL stopped fukking with him after the Big T battle. Lost to Hitman on UDubb.

Pen guys:
JC
Chilla Jones (show glimpses he can perform on a big stage)
Born
Etc

With Lux expressing he would entertain JC in a room, battling a "pen" guy now becomes more interesting. However, I think he was just speaking out of frustration after those tweets from his peers. This is still a business and he knows where the money is at.

My lack of interest in Lux battling a "pen guy" has always stemmed from knowing it would take place on a large stage. I just don't think those guys can hold down those kind of rooms, which is why they are typically mid tier. I'm not a fan of lopsided battles and a Loaded Lux vs JC in a Irving Plaza is some lopsided shyt. Now in a room? You have a real battle for the fans.

Hell, even the guys that can perform well in a large room CAN lose the crowd. You really have to dumb it down and cater to that audience.

I don't see what's wrong with Lux vs. Goodz in terms of the lineage and them having a history from Lions Den. Yeah, their pens are on different levels but they have more to talk about with each than JC would with Lux. Now, I'm not sayin' Lux vs. JC is a bad idea. I can see why the fans are asking for it and repeating it around the internet until others agree with the sentiment. At the same time, for the sake of build up, I don't see a problem with Lux vs. Goodz since the history is there.

You brought up something here.

I prefer actual battles with guys breaking each other down as opposed to guys just coming to out-bar their opponent.

Yeah, I mean, everyone kept asking who is left to battle who.....so why not? I don't know. I think its dope that JC's hard work is getting him this buzz but I also feel like its just the hypebeast machine of battle rap fans, bloggers, and etc., too.

Eh...I feel you but personally I just want a good battle. Barfests and battles with angles have both yielded a lot of classics.

Severe style clashes is what I could do without. And even those kind of battles have been classic (Ars vs Shotty)

Just realized that if Lux battles JC the fans no longer get a pass to dismiss Lux just because they didn't get it right away.
That might be appealing to Lux at this point.

Exactly why I thought Lux might be interested in this battle, or someone else like a JC, and why he said he would do it in a small room. Lux knows if he battles JC (or at least he believes it I suppose) that he can just rap. He won't have to worry about all of the extra shyt, he won't have to worry about dumbing something down so the crowd catches it, and people won't just give it to the other guy because Lux's shyt was too intricate. And it's also doubtful JC would get AS personal (if personal at all) as Arsonal or Mook did, or as Clips could have, because they don't know each other.

The reasoning I was I thought Chilla should've been trying to do what JC is doing a couple of years back in regards to a battle with Lux, but I think he shied away from it at the time (this would've been after the Mook battle, when Chilla was saying he wouldn't wanna be the one to have to battle Lux right after an L).
