:dead: @ you implying they have more money because they actually work and don't steal
I didn't say steal, rappers pay royalties. I believe what rappers do is harder. As far as lyricism go, but a song is more than just lyrics. :ehh:

Axl destroyed GnR.

he absolutely killed the band with his ego. That use Your Illusion tour was such a mess. he started traveling in his own bus, thinking he was the most important dude in the group, showing up to all the shows late, stopping the music to rant for minutes on end to the crowd.

Everyone in the group was :mindblown::huhldup: when he surprised everyone by throwing this on the end of their 2nd album. No one else had heard it or knew it would be on the album. Might be the worst song of all time.

It's not a ridiculous opinion though, even if you don't agree. They didn't have a very long run (basically 3 albums), but they were pretty fukking good. Depending on the era where you grew up, if someone said they were the best rock group ever, I think there are crazier opinions. at one point they were my favorite, and I wouldn't objectively call them the best, but they're up there.

I'm not sure how accurate that site is, I've seen other sources have Plant hitting higher notes than that (like a C♯6 for example Robert Plant) Also, the thing you have to take into consideration with Plant's voice is that he lost a lot of his range and power during their '72 tour (due to extensive touring, not warming up his voice or taking care of it along with heavy drug and alcohol use) and he ended up having surgery on his vocal chords in 1974, his voice never came close to what is was in the late 60's/early 70's again . He also displayed his range much better during live performances than he did on record. That's just range, when it came to power Axl is no match for prime Plant and Robert was also a more soulful and passionate singer, IMO. Both are greats and there is no argument that Axl tries to sing like Robert Plant.

Axl destroyed GnR.

Absolutely right about Axl's behavior and the demise of GNR. Dude really went off the deep end.

Sounds pretty generic and basic to me but then again, I haven't heavily covered
the 80's and 90's of rock music just yet, it could also be because I've been
on an extended Jazz, Classical and Soul/Funk kick.
Maybe in the context of rock music and what proceeded these songs they're incredible
but as it stands now to me they aren't blowing my mind.

The harmony sounds very basic. The singing isn't incredible. The guitar soloing
is great but the choir/strings sound a little cheesy and they're obviously dated/synthetic
in the second song.

They're cool but I'm not understanding the "Greatest (Rock) band of all time" claims in this thread.

gnr probably in the top 10 of all time but not number 1. gnr is kind of weak when comparing it to harder genres(slayer, metallica, the stooges, motorhead) or other eras (black sabbath, the rolling stones, etc)
gnr was just the most rock n roll band of their time. hair metal was dying and grunge was on it's way in.

also
grunge < everything else

its funny you type that because axl was a HUGE fan of alternative grunge music. HUGE FAN.
but those grunge bands and independent label type tree huggers and punks hated gnr.
they hated that mainstream sound. axl tried so hard to get their respect and NEVER got it

Classic shyt, Axl threatening to beat Kurt's ass at the VMA's. Dave Grohl on stage yelling "Hi Axl" after Nirvana's performance. The good ole days. :pachaha:

kris (the bassist)almost got jumped by the blonde in GNR. duff? or duffy??
i remember the interviews of nirvana talking about it :pachaha:

I guess you're right, I always thought it was Dave because Krist almost knocked himself out when he threw his bass in the air and it hit him in the head. And yeah, I remember Krist saying something about Duff and someone else from GnR stepping to him.

punks don't respect rock star shyt. grunge was just washed up punks on heroin playing boring music.

grunge was a lighter version of punk music
