From maybe 08 til last year. Duncan was not an elite player, while Kobe and Bron was dominating the league. That's why Duncan wasnt getting mentioned

Was Kobe elite this year? He's still getting mentioned on the daily. Was Kobe elite in 98? No but he was still on the all-star team and getting hype. We can't act like dude's profile isn't significantly bigger than Duncan's just because we want to see Duncan take some heat.

But we are talking about hype. Criticism is just negative hype. Last time I checked criticism doesn't occur on the basketball court.
but criticism can be of what happens on the court. Timmy gets way more props than criticism. He gets none.

This year Laker fans and Stans(lovers/haters) talked about him but the media acted like he didn't even exist.

Criticism is rarely about what happens on the court. It's all about the narrative. What happens on the court is spun to fit whatever narrative is out there.

:comeon: Obviously he hasn't gotten as much attention as when he was active but to act as if he's been ignored is just complete fiction.

Well Kobe is gonna pass Michael Jordan on the all time scoring list next year

Also, there is the playoff head to head record between them

Furthermore, Kobe repeated as a champion and three peated.

Also more All NBA selections. Kobe was an elite and top 5 player for longer than Duncan ever was.

There is a compelling argument for both but I think that Kobe's teams legitimately dominating the league for years consecutive puts him above Tim and his play at the top for a long time.

ALL That being said, Duncan is the second goat bigman ever :wow:

:what::dahell:

Wilt?
Kareem?
Russell?
Shaq is better at their best.
Hakeem is better at their best also.

70.6% winning percentage since he came in the league

All-time
Number 5 in playoffs scoring
Number 1 in playoff double-doubles
Number 3 in playoff rebounds
Number 1 in playoff blocks

These dudes out here talking about Kobe? You ain't even the best at your own position :russ: You the underboss to another nikka and you trying to claim he's better than the best PF ever? Nah b, if the NBA where a video game, Jordan would have his own level and before you reached him Kobe would be there waiting by a soda machine in a jean jacket vest. Duncan gets his own level too except it's Barkley, Dirk and Malone before you even get facetime with the Great One. We ain't speaking the same language if ya mans ain't the best ever at his own position, we hyping up underlings now?

:ohhh:

Where Kobe been since 2010?

How many series the Lakers won since 2010?

How many times have the Lakers been SWEPT since 2010?

When the last time the Lakers won a title?

No poor argument formed against Duncan shall prosper

This was the first year Kobe wasnt elite since the 90s. My nig Timmy had 5 straight years of non-elite productivity. And just cause Kobe more popular, doesnt mean Tim should be exempt of criticism.

MVPs and all that stuff are irrelevant and not the reason Duncan is better than Kobe. He clearly had more impact on the floor during his career, the winning is just icing on the cake. It's not even close, Kobe has never even been the best player in the league. Duncan is clearly better and is probably a top 5-7 player of all-time. The only ones I clearly have above him are Jordan, Kareem and Russell. Shaq is probably ranked higher too. Hakeem, Magic and KG are in the same tier to me, but I'm leaning towards Timmy against all of them because of his superior longevity.

Tim's per 36 numbers have been pretty constant throughout his career. Only thing that has changed is his minutes. Dude hasn't played over 35 minutes per game in a decade.

Popularity and hype/criticism go hand in hand. The bigger you are the more you get of each and louder it's gonna be both ways. Duncan has been the most under the radar superstar in recent sports memory but cats want his profile to suddenly increase exponentially when his team loses. :mjlol:We only hear about dude when there is absolutely nothing else to talk about.
