lebron has a 40% winning percentage in the finals so chances are if he did meet kobe he would take that L

again, i'll list the facts

fact: kobe was a top 5 player for 13 years straight, duncan was not (from when to when; and who determines this?)
fact: kobe and duncan have had 6 playoff series, kobe won 4, duncan won 2 ( i agree this is not the decidng factor) - no argument

do you wanna dispute the facts?

Fact: Duncan was recognized as the best (most valuable) player in the league twice (two years in a row); Kobe only once.

Fact: Duncan was recognized as the best (most valuable) player in the NBA Finals three times; Kobe only twice

Fact: Duncan has won 50 or more games in the regular season every year except the 99 lockout year

Fact: Duncan has never missed the playoffs

Fact: Kobe plays for a glamour franchise with an owner that is willing to spend cash on bringing in talent.

Fact: Duncan plays for a small-market team/cheap owner that struggles to bring in top-flight FAs, and still wins consistently

Fact: Kobe nearly bolted the Lakers when the going got tough (and after he had a hand in helping drive Shaq away from the team).

Fact: Kobe was given Dwight Howard and Steve Nash, and did nothing with them.

Fact: Duncan singlehandedly won a Finals series (2003) (Parker was benched for Speedy Claxton, Robinson was cooked, Ginobili wasn't GINOBILI)

Fact: Kobe hasn't played in a playoff game in two years

You made some good points but you also let your emotions get the best of you

Kobe's one MVP is worth 5 to me because voters went through a 3 year phase where they only gave the trophy to white players. Kobe ended the white MVP era

Kobe didn't nearly leave the lakers, he was just lighting a fire under their ass. Either way that has nothing to do with who's better.

Dwight was hurt and God doesn't want Nash to win a ring so that point is irrelevant

The difference between you and me is even though I feel one guy is better, I still show respect to the other. Duncan is one of the best ever and he was incredible this playoffs....but the fact remains that his peak wasn't as high as Kobe, and he wasn't a top 5 player as long as Kobe was. Those are the facts my brother

Duncan gets the nod over Kobe because his defensive prowess never diminished. Something that Kobe hasn't managed to do.
Tobe's 12 all defensive teams is one of the biggest jokes in sports. He stopped caring about defense a long time ago.

Duncan has always been a defensive rock, up to and including this year's finals.

The funny part is, the only time Duncan wasn't elite defensively is when he was dealing with the knee injury, and the Spurs defensive rating dropped like a rock because of it.

As soon as he dropped the weight and gained mobility again they returned to top 5 defensively, yet dudes in here solely talking about PPG while Kobe was essentially giving up what he got.

No, I'm not :takedat:

When's the last time Kobe played defense at an elite level? I'll wait..
Probably the '10 playoffs. In the same vein, when is last time Duncan was leaned on for an entire season to be his team's #1 offensive option and was considered elite on that side of the ball?

I'll wait...

Both players obviously can be called to be two way players in their primes but I think age has a way of specializing players friend. Duncan can be called on to score if needed but mainly needed for his post defense and rebounding. Kobe is going to be used for scoring and playmaking but can be used to limit better players if needed.

Regardless, '14 Duncan is '00 Kobe level in terms of impact. :mjpls:

kobe got bailed out 3 times in one playoff run :heh:

pau tip in on kobes brick to avoid game 7 vs an 8th seed thunder

metta's buzzer beater in the WCF to avoid going down 3-2 and going back to phx in the wcf

and metta's 3 to seal the title while bean was building a new staples with bricks

:camby:

i wont mention horry in 02 though :mjpls:

The only series the lakers would've lost had things gone correctly is the boston series. The lakers would've killed OKC in game 7 and they would've beaten phoenix in games 6 and 7 as well

Oh look back to scoring as the crux of the argument :russ:

He's been their second leading scorer for years now, I forget that scoring is the number 1 priority on here.

Again, he's their second leading scorer, 2nd option offensively, you're familiar with that right? :mjpls: He's the anchor of their defense and 2nd leading scorer, talk about him like he's not having an impact on both sides of the ball brehs.

Nah, I respect what Kobe's done. It's understood that he's one of the greats. We were going point/counter-point, so I was leaving it to you to sing his praises. :manny:
