Ruff Ryders founder and CEO Waah Dean here takes Vlad through his childhood and the early development of the Ruff Ryders label. Dean describes growing up in the same building as Kool Herc in the Bronx, moving to Harlem and Mount Vernon, and eventually meeting DMX and signing him to his precursor to Ruff Ryders, Special Effects. Finally, Dean explains the origin of the name "Ruff Ryders." Watch above.

- at a young age, TD ( Swiss beatz father) had Dean and his other siblings carry the crates for records during block parties
- Swiss Beatz is their nephew
- they grew up with heavy D in Mt Vernon and heavy d gave him advice on the game
- received a mixtape cassette of DMX and loved his flow, met him in yonkers
- label name was Special Effects at first watched a black cowboy movie and got the name Ruff Ryders and his mom said ride or die and the rest became history
