For me it's a tough call between the 70s and 80s.
The 70s were full of innovation and top quality soul, funk, and R&B: Earth Wind and Fire, Marvin Gaye, Maze ft. Frankie Beverly, Stevie Wonder, P-Funk, Sly and the Family Stone, Mandrill, and so much more. :ahh:

But the 80s gave us Whitney Houston, Anita Baker, prime Luther Vandross, Morris Day & the Time, and New Edition on top of Prince and MJ blessing us with Purple Rain and Thriller, respectively :wow:

EDIT: Zapp and Roger :blessed:

I can only tell you what isn’t the goat. Anything after 2005... All the other eras we were doing good. Can’t even say which one was the best out of them, because 70’s was goat, 80’s and 90’s too. We fell off midway 2000 and it’s been wrap ever since

Since I grew up in the 90s I'm rolling with the 90s :yeshrug: but I'll give an honorable mention to the 70s because without that soul/funk, alot of hip-hop classics from the 90s might've not existed let alone hip-hop's existence:yeshrug:.

I never cared for the 80s and all that electro/disco style of music which has aged horribly.

Can't forget Bessie Smith and Ma Rainey.

But out of the ones listed, I'm going with the 90s due to Aaliyah.
