I dont totally agree. We disenfranchise people with the electoral college voter suppression and gerrymandering so it appears that way but we are far less conservative than it seems.

Blacks and some Latino groups are less conservative in terms of policy...but Asians and Whites are conservative...and Whites make up the majority...without the Democratic Party playing identity politics...they wouldn't win an election cause Whites don't vote for them as a block...

We...Black people...keep the Democratic Party viable as a political institution...other than that...they wouldn't win shyt...

And the Democratic Party and the Republican Party shifted to the right...with the Democrats chasing the tail of Republicans as the USA dove-tails into corporate fascism...

The USA is a center-right, conservative country...

There is no institutional Left or Leftists in this country...it's just right-wing or super right wing

I disagree yes both party's are more right wing but a republican has not won the popular vote since 1988. If you ask people about policies like universal health care they are in favor of it if you frame it correctly and dont let the republican bullshyt get in the way. I already explained the bullshyt that happens with districting and disenfranchising black people so I wont go into that again.

already voted. you should too. you may not be into politics, but make no mistake politics is INTO YO ASS. from taxes, to red light tickets, marijuana legalization, to funding for public schools, to the taxes that get taken out of your check, etc, etc, etc.

you don't have to be "for a candidate" to vote for them. no politician is going to save yo ass, BUT having someone that believes there are a such thing as institutional racism, that the private prison system is bullshyt, etc matters. you'd be crazy to think otherwise. even if they are just a roadblock to the extreme right wing bullshyt that is surging, thats enough to vote.

@Crude Abolitionist you'd never hear this from ted cruz. shyt vote just to get that motherfukker OUT of power at least.

I don't know what ballot initiatives yall have in your city/state. but here in south florida, I voted to give ex felons(except for murderers and sex offenders) there right to vote, a pay raise for miami dade teachers, and some other stuff

But universal healthcare isn't a left-wing policy, that's just basic shyt any sane government does...Singapore is the most capitalist, center-right country in the world and they got it, fukking Japan is ultra conservative and they got it...

The idea that things like universal healthcare is some leftist hairbrained scheme...is a sign that this country is full of conservatives...most countries have had a universal healthcare system since WW2...we still don't got one...

That has nothing to do with gerrymandering and etc...

And of course Republicans don't win the popular vote...us Blacks vote as an entire bloc for Democrats like 99 percent...then Whites vote mostly Republican...then Latinos are split amongst different demographics but mostly Democrat and Asians are independent mostly...and a lot identify as Republican...then women are split..

What I am saying is...you take Black people out the country...there is no structural push back against rampant conservatism...actually the country gotten more conservative the older it gets...

At the end of the day...the people in this country, the overall ideology of this country is center-right , it's been that way since it's founding and it's not changing...it's going more to the right...

If there was actual leftists in this country, and people with actual leftists beliefs with leftists policy suggestions with leftist politicians...then there wouldn't be a Trump

Democrats wouldn't play identity politics so they gather enough votes to win, since the overwhelming majority of Whites vote Republican...

They would actually propose things that people would need like idk...a universal healthcare system that isn't some convoluted mess from Republicans...mandatory 30 days paid time off, working managed and directed work places, a cap on CEO pay, 4 day work weeks...

Nobody popular runs on that...
