Why isn't Donovan Mitchell the Rookie of the Year over Ben Simmons?

I like Ben but he has some glaring holes in his game. He's an awful shooter, down to his freethrows. He's getting by right now on iq and physical ability but teams have started to game plan on him and manipulate his weaknesses which have started affecting even the things he does well.

Mitchell on the other hand has been coming stronger every month, has been the go to guy on his team and has his team playing at a much higher level than Simmons...not to mention the competition has been much better and he's been scouted and game planned and instead he's just continued to expand his game. He's already allstar status in my book.

For 3 less ppg, Simmons averages 4 more apg and 4 more rpg than Mitchell over doubling him in those categories. Simmons also averages more steals and blocks. Simmons has a higher TS% than Mitchell, and posts a better A:TO. Simmons is posting a BPM of 3.7(26th in NBA) to Mitchell's 1.1(90th in NBA). Simmons has a 2.6RPM(35th in NBA) to Mitchell's 1.7(66th in NBA). Simmons has a better ORtg and DRtg than Mitchell. For all the talk of Mitchell carrying the Jazz, they were 4-11 over Gobert's recent injury stretch, it's no coincidence that their recent hot streak has coincided perfectly with his return, that's Gobert's team like Philly is Embiid's.

If you think Mitchell is the ROTY you're either being willfully ignorant, trolling, or lying to yourself :yeshrug:

Kid is a stud tho :leon:

And if you get scared anytime somebody brings up stats to just block out what they're saying, I assume you just a dumb ass nikka.

There's merit to both watching the game and looking at advanced stats. The real smart hoop heads and coaches know they both benefit each other.

The Jazz are beyond lucky to have Mitchell. I hope Mitchell enjoys his time on the Jazz and I hope management does everything to help Utah be a contender during these years that we have him. If/when Mitchell leaves to another team (he is from NY, I imagine the thought of doing what he is doing for the Jazz for the Knicks or Nets is very appealing), I'm gonna be supportive of his decision and root for that team as well as the Jazz.

Mitchell is the offensive leader and helps give this Jazz team kind of a mental edge that I think is elevating the team to a level no one expected this year or any time soon. But Simmons performs higher in more stat areas than Mitchell. I suppose Simmons deserves the award looking at just stats. Looking at leading their teams and comparing the level of competition (game by game) Mitchell and the Jazz face being in the West over Simmons not being the leader of the Sixers and playing in the East, I think it's a really hard decision who to pick as ROTY. I think Simmons gets the award and I won't be mad or anything about that.

If Utah makes the playoffs, even considering all the injuries to Gobert, I find it very hard to believe Mitchell wouldn't get it, considering he has been their best player this year.

The Jazz are 7th seed right now and I believe have the second easiest remaining schedule in the West. I know being 7th isn't saying much with how close seeds 4-9 are but there's a chance the Jazz can break into the 6th/5th seed and possibly make it to the second round of the playoffs. The same place they were last year, right after losing the player the Jazz spent the past 7 years trying to build the time around

Fake Rookie. Dude plays with Embiid who commands a double team and kicks out to JJ Reddikk and Cov.

He wouldn't be doing that shyt in Utah as the #1 option kicking to Rubio and Crowder. FOH.

Dudes the Draymond Green of the east. Fake. Fake. Fake. System player. He wouldn't change life for the Jazz. Glad he wasn't an all star. Fake. Fake. Trash when Embiid has to rest. I hope his next coach lists him as a Center. That would make him mad always claiming point guard.
This is why he's the ROY you have to be great to have this level of hating

Man this post reminds so much of the Ben Simmons vs Brandon Ingram debate pre-draft where someone will pinpoint all of Ben's weakness and point out all the strength of the other player to make it sound like they're better.
