Why isn't Donovan Mitchell the Rookie of the Year over Ben Simmons?

Gobert is the best & most important player on the Jazz, what Mitchell has done is impressive but they were under .500 without Rudy and are 28-15 when Gobert plays.

Gobert is the best player, but Mitchell's play kept this team alive when he was out. Gobert is a fantastic player though, you won't get any disagreement from me, but I believe taking the whole year into account, I think Mitchell has saved the season.

The Jazz are beyond lucky to have Mitchell. I hope Mitchell enjoys his time on the Jazz and I hope management does everything to help Utah be a contender during these years that we have him. If/when Mitchell leaves to another team (he is from NY, I imagine the thought of doing what he is doing for the Jazz for the Knicks or Nets is very appealing), I'm gonna be supportive of his decision and root for that team as well as the Jazz.

Wow, that's classy.

:salute: to you for that.

Now who else wanna fukk with Hollywood Court?
EVEN WITH HIS NICE STATS
SIMMONS IS USUALLY A GHOST
WHEN ITS LATE IN CLOSE GAMES.

WE ALL SEE HIM SCARED TO SHOOT OUT THERE.

MITCHELL IS 8TH IN 4TH QRT SCORING.
SIMMONS IS 61ST.

Can you please tell me who's winning those games for the Sixers in the 4th

Simmons has Embiid as his teammate so why would he be expected to be the go-to scorer? Like who else on the Jazz besides Mitchell is gonna create his own shot and score? Joe Ingles? Rubio? Jae Crowder?

It's similar to IT on the Celtics last season. Scrappy Doo got so many points in the 4th not just because he's a great scorer, but no one else on that squad could create their own shot.

You sag off him, he'll just use his speed and size and blow by you. You can always tell who's actually watched Simmons play when people suggest this strategy, his athleticism and passing ability nullify it time and time again. Nope, in his most ineffective games teams stifled him by getting in his grill. But only a select few defenders in the league can do it.
Simmons has found ways to be effective but his lack of shooting has killed the Sixers late in games. The defense sags completely off of him and he can't make the defense pay because of his horrible free throw shooting. Leads to him going up soft or just not taking a shot which causes the Sixers offense to reset. That's a huge part of the reason Sixers have blown so many games late.

For that reason I have Mitchell has my ROY but really wouldn't be mad at all if it went to Simmons. It's a super close race IMO.

The funny thing about this argument is that they are both the same age and Mitchell is the one who had the advantage of playing on court meaningful games last season that helped improve his abilities

YOU ACT LIKE I CALLED EMBIID A BUM OR SOMETHING.

:comeon: YOURE A SIXERS FAN RIGHT?

THIS MEANS YOU'VE SEEN HIM DISAPPEAR A TON OF TIMES.

TEAMS PLAY OFF HIM & HES SCARED TO SHOOT THE BALL.
HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH EMBIID.
DUDE BECOMES A LIABILITY LATE IN GAMES
AND I DIDNT EVEN MENTION THE FREE THROW SHOOTING.

Wait...

...People don't understand how you can have a year with a professional training staff. A year to review game situations and train and get your body right with nutritionist. A year to actually view practice and mentally get acclimated to how you'd contribute to a team..

People can take all of that into account and still question how fans would see Ben Simmons as a fake rookie?

It's okay to believe Ben is nice and still think he doesn't deserve an award that rewards 1st year players when he has been on an NBA roster for a year already...

It's possible.

We live in a box score watcher era

Which is why you get inane analysis like this and take note he literally does not describe anything that happens on the court:

For 3 less ppg, Simmons averages 4 more apg and 4 more rpg than Mitchell over doubling him in those categories. Simmons also averages more steals and blocks. Simmons has a higher TS% than Mitchell, and posts a better A:TO. Simmons is posting a BPM of 3.7(26th in NBA) to Mitchell's 1.1(90th in NBA). Simmons has a 2.6RPM(35th in NBA) to Mitchell's 1.7(66th in NBA). Simmons has a better ORtg and DRtg than Mitchell. For all the talk of Mitchell carrying the Jazz, they were 4-11 over Gobert's recent injury stretch, it's no coincidence that their recent hot streak has coincided perfectly with his return, that's Gobert's team like Philly is Embiid's.

If you think Mitchell is the ROTY you're either being willfully ignorant, trolling, or lying to yourself :yeshrug:

Kid is a stud tho :leon:
