Look at Ye. Calling out other celebrities for not speaking out on the Balenciaga situation in fear of similar reprimand.

The Kyrie situation. Most NBA players were silent out of fear of rocking their own boats.

Many black celebs being silent on the BLM movements in fear of being labeled antiwhite.

There are so many examples of this but those are the most recent.

Let's say you were a prominent millionaire in the midst of racial/political/religious turmoil. Would you be willing to speak out against the power structures if it meant potentially losing endorsements, money, status, etc? Would you risk it?

Or would you stay silent because you have yourself and your own family to worry about and you don't want to jeopardize being able to provide for them just for a morally good cause?

In all honestly probably not. At the end of the day money isn't made speaking up. Also, athletes and entertainers are employees to bigger system. Some have power and influence but it's minimal. Most people thought Nick Cannon had pull until the J-folks gave him his nikka know your place moment. This same notion is easily applied to everyday people. There are a ton of people who see wrong doings at their job. They don't say anything for fear of being fired or passed on promotion potential. Now if they speak up and get fired, their mortgage lender isn't going to give two shyts about their ethics and why they were fired. They just care about receiving that mortgage payment and will foreclosure if they don't. Folks just need to be honest about the system we live in now. :francis:

At the end of people care about their own interests. Celebrities give lip services to bigger issues, but no one is going to fukk up their bottom line at the end of the day.
That's why Muhammad Ali was special he's the only Celebrity I can think of that risked his career in his prime for a bigger cause

you are asking people that haven't got sufficient savings to cover for a minor financial emergency something that a decades long multimillionaire chose to do :pachaha:

as far as people that actually are in the position, i think they do it if they believe it. kayne is not the first rapper to speak about jewish people's role in the industry.

If I ever become rich and famous as an artist...I def would..but artists...visual artist esp arent known to be cowards either. We always speak out on shyt. Its these sport athletes that are scared and then they apologize when they do speak out.

I guess it is true....visual artists are the real heroes sans Ali and others. The minor few.

It shows you a lot of these celebrities can’t afford to speak out because of financial reasons and that tells u a lot how many of them are dependent on Hollywood for security . Also many of these celebrities have secrets behind close doors that will exposed them and ruined they life, so it’s best to shut the fukk up

Only time I would speak out on something is in regards of black people not getting opportunities in the industry and racism/sexism towards black men. I won’t speak up for other races or the alphabet gang

no it doesn't and furthermore how many celebrities are tied to Balenciaga financially or it's parent company? let's stop the bullshyt

it shows that people still can't get passed the fake genius of Kanye

stop letting that man direct you how to think. Gucci had a prominent boycott and discussion by many celebrities when they made several anti Black pieces of fashion.

lame c00n still wields too much influence in the culture. I know its "messenger over message" "broken clock blah blah"

he's still wrong and he is currently hanging out with extreme racists while pretending to care about social justice but in reality he's mad balenciaga dumped him. brehs look away from his actions and associations to carry that lame ass message "oh he's right" no he isn't. fashion brands get boycotted all the time.

Hell yes.

Are you in it for the art or the money?

If this art is something you’re passionate about, money won’t be your main concern.

This is the issue plaguing hip hop, too many people in it for the money and lifestyle it brings and not caring about the artistry, the craft, morality. The other issue is people aren’t going the Keith Sweat route and instead they’re putting all their hopes and dreams into making it so they turn into quiet bytches because they have no other backup.
