Recent research got closer to why apes seem so much stronger than us. Apparently they don't have brakes like we do, they can exceed their pain threshold. While we stop when it starts to hurt, they keep going.
Now if the 100 men were savages that were raised in the wild they may have a chance. I'm talking about basically prehistoric man.
