Downtown LA on my way onto the freeway and next thing I know just hearing MJ music playing and people on the streets shaking their head and I turn on the radio

Kobe's death was bigger even though MJ was the bigger star.

Recency bias.

Unfortunately that’s not true and on top of that…. To make it worse. Many disrespect his death though they think they honoring it. But coli not ready for that discussion.

On topic, MJ’s death sent a shockwave around the world

I obviously knew who Michael was, but I was too young at the time to appreciate him like I do now. I remember his death being a huge deal because it was talked about everywhere. I learned a lot about him after he died and became a bigger fan because of it. It's still crazy to me to think a person like that actually existed, because no one else comes close to his level of celebrity. The sad part is that in the years before that, Michael’s reputation wasn't what it used to be. He was just another guy but he had everyone going crazy when the This is It tour was announced. Then after he died, people suddenly remembered who he was and the impact he had on music.

His health had been getting worse at the time of his death. I don't know if he would have been able to do all 50 shows at that point in his life. Especially since he was still dealing with addiction and he had nothing but yes men in his circle. This Smokey Robinson interview sheds some light on why things ended up the way they did. I had no idea they installed a metal plate in Michael’s head after the Pepsi incident which is what led to him having migraines. :mjcry:

I dunno about the metal plate but he got serious burns...that cac kid fukked up Mike's reputation. It's like the feds sent a message with the first accusation. Now a second one? They had to humiliate our breh once again..fukk his house up.

Breh probably legit thought he was going to prison. And his estate said his image likeness was earning no money after that trial. Mike always had fans but that trial had..sponsor's and shyt wary of sponsoring him.

RIP GOAT

I remember everyone phone went dead and all the music was playing just wild and everybody just decided to go to the Apollo and for hours it was a concert people dancing, singing, crying, making art and so much I spent so much money on merch and honestly the stories I heard were amazing.

I know some of y’all compared it to 9/11 and yeah it felt kinda like that with that unity after but it’s wild because this was in NYC not LA but people from all over told me

His death felt bigger than the Queen’s death but Kobe’s felt bigger and is honestly more sad

Since MJ died so many others have died off of overdoses in a way that it numbs you like Whitney and Prince

Even Shock G but MJ was technically murdered but still I’m sure others understand

Remember where I was I was at home in the kitchen and my mom told me. I was in last LA county so all the local news had coverage of the hospital where he was at and at his house
