Few will suffer for the benefit of many.
I'm proud of my city for taking this first step forward.

That owners losing money is bullshyt. The amount of shyt you get to write off as business owners is a great tax perk. Many operational costs and I believe labor costs are tax deductible.
So its the workers' fault that they deserve a livable wage and that a livable hurts the profits of some greedy fukking capitalists? Ridiculous logic. Sounds like a problem with a faulty system and not the people in the system, don't you think?![]()
Grown Adults shouldn't be working Min Wage jobs to support a family. Min wage should be reserved for College kids and HS kids. You have HS kids who can't get jobs in the summer because a 35 yr old mom has the job and needs it to support her kids and is able to work more hours. The issue at hand is we need job creation and adults need a path to be able to gain skills to work these jobs.

We were supposed to be booming service economy by nowwith 3/4 of the population working in STEM professions although K-12 was never set up to meet that demand, who needs good paying manufacturing jobs or trade track to be put back the HS. It is true that there's a lot of service level healthcare jobs as people get older but aside from that it's retail jobs people are competing for. It's just sad
Again, WTF is livable? Do you think a motherfukker who didn't go to school or learn trade or even graduate high school Deserves the same amount of opportunity as the people who did? Not saying education is the end all be all but if you aint got a diploma and/or you ain't out here trying to start your own opportunities then think working the register at McD's entitles to live the same life as someone else who did the fukk em.
Today I learned everyone is born on a level playing field with offers of free education in order to not work at McDonalds.
Lol bruh no one is in here saying people at McD's should be getting 50k a year or some bullshyt. The wages juts need to keep up with the cost of living which they haven't for over a decade. Hell a couple extra dollars an hour would give some of those people the opportunity to save up for Uni or attend a community college/trade school. $8 an hour ain't shyt for someone who lives by their self with no kids and minimal bills, imagine throwing just ONE kid in the mix. There needs to be legitimate options for people who were born into or somehow found themselves into shytty situations. $10/hr would change some people's lives but nah, why should the 6-7 figure earning franchise owners have to pay the people who keep his shytty restaurant afloat anything more than 7.50 right? fukk those peasants right?
Maybe it's just me but I don't believe minimum wage should be $15. I believe you adapt to the climate, I mean this is happening to nikkas, ain't it? Gentrification ran black folks out of Brooklyn and Harlem because the cost of living is going up but the wages are the same. Should they raise minimum wage in NYC for them? They didn't causing many NYC folks to move South for better opportunities with lower cost of living.
How come Seattle folks can't move somewhere else in Washington or move to Portland or Vancouver, maybe Idaho or Montana.
Maybe the issue is racial. When it's black folks who can't afford the cost of living, like in NYC, then it's "Screw u nikkas, move." But when it's white folks in Seattle they be like :"Increase the wage so they can afford to live here."
