As a business owners, these guys have to forecast what's going to happen to their business years in advance and based on the numbers, they'll be in the red once they have to comply with the law:yeshrug:
If it continues to be viable and profitable, they'll stay open like some restaurants who are successful enough will do. But if not, close up shop and put your investments elsewhere. Running a business is not a charity:francis:
So now those guys who earned a living with minimum wage and tips, will be now jobless and wishing they had their old job back:feedme:
yeah just like there are some kids starving in some 3rd world country wishing they could be in a completely unsafe garment factory working 16 hour shifts everyday without a toilet to piss in and with no emergency exits(one way in, one way out), getting paid 5 cents per day. those people weill be begging for jobs to. does that mean the way it is, is the proper way to treat people? HELL NO. so lets get off of this mentality above

its only a matter of time that most of these min wage jobs will be automated and people will cry, like the breh who posted that mcdonalds kiosk etc. those will come in more, and there will also be just ordering off a app with a cc and you just walk in pick up your order etc

High paying skilled jobs will be automated too. Most of us are going to be jobless in 20 years.

We were supposed to be booming service economy by now :mjlol: with 3/4 of the population working in STEM professions although K-12 was never set up to meet that demand, who needs good paying manufacturing jobs or trade track to be put back the HS. It is true that there's a lot of service level healthcare jobs as people get older but aside from that it's retail jobs people are competing for. It's just sad

If everyone worked in STEM, there would be wages that be suppressed due to the abundance of workers. Like India.

Don't worry, your time to be rich will come.. Just keep working that 9-5 so your manager can get that huge quarterly bonus and the CEO can finally get that 250ft yatch with that heli pad :mjlol:

The state of the economy is disgusting.. The gap in wealth and income increase over the past 2 decades between the rich and poor is absurd... And all the cash is just being fukking hoarded, not being pumped back into the economy... It's like a dikk measuring contest between the super rich as to who can hoard the most cash/liquid assets... But mofos don't care, as long as they got their iPhones/internet/TV shows.. It's all good.. Keeping the masses occupied with balls of yarn while they continue to get fukked :wow:

I don't wanna be around for breaking point of this mess.. Its not gonna be pretty :wow:

:russ: @ dikkriders thinking that they can play on the CEO's yacht. You mean, being a servant for his meals while he bangs his sidepieces.

Problem is, the super rich hate Obama and his "socialist" policies, and they intentionally holding back all their money to make him look bad. They rather see America as the new age serfdom than to see us prosper. IT and Healthcare can't support a nation of 325 million people.

Talking bout this thread.

Yeah, ever since Unions been destabilized thanks to the brainwashing of the elite to the general public, jobs that can support a family exist fewer and fewer. The reason why we are having this discussion in the first places is because these low paying service jobs are the last ones that are available readily.

when I worked at Kmart, the minimum wage here (in CT) was 8.25. They recently went up to 8.70, and they were thinking of bringing it up to 9. We promptly had a meeting because everyone was pretty excited :russ:. Our boss told us straight up that just because the minimum wage goes up, it doesn't mean that corporate is going to increase the budget for payroll:beli: . He then went on to say that our paychecks are going to remain the same because he's going to have to cut our hours to keep the doors open:sadbron:. Dude was a dikk sometimes, but at least he was honest. Things don't change, corporations always win, it doesn't matter if minimum wage goes up or not. And it didn't even work because the store closed down regardless, now I'm unemployed:mjcry:

Breh, no one is getting mad at the poor people SMH.

But going after small business owners, majority of whom are just middle class citizens, ain't the solution. These dudes aren't the 1%. Hell, they ain't even in the 10%. People really need to focus their outrage on the upper class and how they're accumulating their wealth. These dudes don't give a shyt about minimum wage workers:skip:. They're more worried about the tax loopholes the government is conveniently allowing big companies to exploit and how that affects their portfolio.

This shyt is really like scolding a kid stealing a candy bar meanwhile the accountants are crooked and stealing all the store's money and getting away with it.

Is stealing that candy bar unethical? Sure. But there are more serious issues that people should focus on.

People for some reason think most business owners are Rich

Stop with the strawman bullshyt. Stop trying to bait me into this big business and banks vs the poor argument.

I already told you I agree that they are some crooks. I already told you I'm not trying to absolve them from blame. I like how you can tell me what I think despite me not saying or implying any of it.

I'm just tired of listening to people complain about how hard it is to feed a family off a low paying job. People need to stop having children they can't afford and stop living above their means. No, you aren't going to feed a family of four off the same job my HS aged sister has. People need better education on how to use their money wisely and make it go further. Personal Finance should be a bigger part of high school curriculum. People need to not settle for mediocrity and actually try to better their situation. Or at the very least, if that's how someone wants to behave they should be willing to accept whatever outcome results from it. This would have a positive effect regardless of how much bullshyt big business / banks try to pull on us.
But your the one trying to paint everyone at the bottom, broadly as a bunch of failures that made their own situation. You know everyone doesn't have 4 fukking kids and I don't see what that has to do with companies paying a wage equivalent to the inflation that everything else in this damn country has went through.

In the UK, there is a movement to change the minimum wage,to a liveable one, and unusally despite my right wing beliefs I agree with it. Because over here we have a situation where the minimum wage has not kept pace with cost of living, and so the government are having to subsidise working people through welfare. That is unacceptable, and I can't understand why any conservative person should support that state of affairs, because it makes more people dependent on the government ,and encourages a welfare culture ,that in my view is unhelpful for society. It also annoys me,that the government are effectively not only subsidising employees but these employers ,through tax payers money in the welfare budget.

The welfare budget should only be for those who are unable to work. due to sickness, age or on a temporary basis due to losing your job. The fact, that cost of living has overtook the minimum wage here, is one of the reasons why the welfare budget has continued to skyrocket, despite having a so called conservative Prime Minister. Everyone man and woman should get a good enough wage to support their families, without having to rely on government handouts or charity. There are working people using foodbanks in my country. Not acceptable.

This is troubling because the American economy is built on exploitation. Plain and simple. There's a number of healthy European nations with a decent minimum wage.

This is it man. If you work fulltime you should be able to live to some type of decent standard.
