Orton is a decent stopgap but he's not good enough to "win" anything with this Bills' team. If the decision is between developing EJ and taking the lumps that come with it versus playing for a lesser draft pick with Orton, I choose EJ.
I think we got a solid team if we were complete with a qb.. if orton plays like he has in the past I think we can do well:manny:

I dknt think pryer is good.. hes just another ej... with orton we can win now.. if the rookie stays healthy he will have big numbers cuz of orton

With Pryor, he's at least a better athlete than EJ and I feel he's at least improved a bit as a passer. Bills still wouldn't a be a playoff team, but I feel they would more dangerous offensively at least

What does being a "solid team" mean? Orton doesn't have much upside. He is not a franchise quarterback and this team needs a franchise level QB to win anything. Starting Orton is akin to putting a hamster on a wheel. Ultimately he's not going to take the franchise anywhere. EJ has that potential. This is only his second year and he was actually a 3rd/4th round level talent coming out. There is time to improve.

I agree we do need a franchise qb but at the moment I guess its ej... best thing for ej is sit back and learn... there is no one out therr that is going to come in and be our franchise qb
Solid team as in playoff team

I disagree. I think the best thing for him is to start, make mistakes and learn from them. EJ's deep accuracy, throwing motion and arm strength already look better this year. So he is developing notwithstanding the rest of his issues. I don't think the tradeoff between sitting EJ and depriving him of reps is worth a shot at the short term victory of a play off. The best thing to do is to think long term and invest in the big with the most potential. In 2 years, we'll know whether EJ can be the guy. If he isn't we just draft another QB.

Idk.

I think some qbs do benefit from just getting thrown out there but some dont.. I think ej will just revert to his old ways every time. . Of course I can be wrong but I honestky like our qb situation today than I did yesterday.

Rome wasn't built in a day. Dree Brews was relatively poor his first few seasons too. It's likely his old habits crept into his play as well. When someone practices something, it takes time for them to do things without reverting to their habits. New habits form over an extended period of time and only after a gratuituous amount of repetition. However EJ has shown the propensity to learn and apply lessons to his play. His mechanics and drop back already look more fluid this season than last. I would think differently if EJ showed no improvement.

The thing is in the NFL black QBs get a half a chance. Looks like EJ is about to get fukked. If he was a white QB they would give him at least two to three years to prove himself. Hell busta ass ponder got three fukking years.

or chuckie keeton :obama:

If EJ gets tossed aside the bills won't give chuckle or Cato a chance next year. The NFLs MO has always been if a black coach or QB doesn't perform for their team the next year the team is not going to take a chance on a black QB or head coach. The NFL ain't the NBA where a black coach or draft pick can bust and the team drafts another black lottery player and hires another black coach the next year.

The NFL is the ultimate good old boy league.

The most worrisome thing about EJ manuel for me is that Winston came into FSU his redshirt freshmen year and won the National Championship. Winston performed better than EJ did as a senior. This might indicate EJ lacks talent in which case he needs to go after this season.

ej doesnt have that aura, the guy is hesitant and has happy feet. he reminds me of gabbert, ive been forced to watch this trash this whole preseason.

winston is different, ej is a better athlete but hes trying to be a qb, winston is a qb
