And no, calling your son goofy isn't some weird thing. It's a fukking joke. Holding the door open for a woman, listening to her, and paying for her meal are traditional male acts. Just because you are cheap or spend too much time reading white incel shyt on reddit doesn't change the fact that these are primary tenants of what being a man used to be before a fatherless generation started re-writing "masculinity." Your grandfather opened doors and bought flowers. Hell, a lot of grandfathers built a fukking house for their woman. Your father paid for dates. Upper middle class family men wouldn't bat an eye at any of this. I know from experience.

Perhaps, but I have plenty of acquaintances who were born into that socioeconomic background and had terminally poor pickers. I saw it in college (I graduated from Morehouse and my wife from Spelman) to even now as a retired Economist. A person's character can be influenced by one's socioeconomic background, but it is not determined by it. No matter your birth station, having self-respect first is the first key to creating a deep relationship that lasts in my opinion.

Most of what that father, in the story, said to his son was perfectly fine. Just some of it was a bit shallow and could encourage simping and a relationship scarcity mindset in his son. The father should have told his son what sort of women are worthy of that treatment and how to determine that. He did clue him in on the listening suggestion, but he left it too open by not actually telling his son that he needs to listen with discernment.

Anyhow, all women are not worthy no matter their socioeconomic background, just like all men are not worthy. It is just as important to know how to choose well as it is to treat the person you have chosen well.

In my experience, they push chivalry and respect and don't see teen dating as a battlefield. They're trying to raise husbands. It's cool if you don't agree with the logic, but don't deny that these men exist because they do. Specifically, I'm talking about black men.

This is partially true in my experience. Good husbands require more than acquiesce on the part of the man.
