I was in Georgia visiting family and enjoying myself before 8th grade
Back when I was IN LOVE with hip hop and spent my whole summers off from school in front of MTV and BET watching videos. I remember “Where Da Party At” so vividly from that summer but not sure why exactly lol.
That H to the Izzo by Jay Z sounded like a new form of music low key at that point in time.
Neptunes Swizz Timbaland were less reliant on samples and loops but an unknown Kanye comes through with a smash

11 yrs old going to middle school. Kobe vs AI in the finals, Jay and Ja running the radio, Diddy getting acquitted, Micheal Jackson and Michael Jordan coming back, went to see Evolution, The Score, Rush Hour 2 and Mummy Returns that summer. Last summer that felt like normal life.
