No. It's just that the new stuff is so bad that old trash looks good. 90s was the last era singers could actually sing and beats had melody and good production, after that it was steady downhill till it snowballed into beats that sound like they were made with a paper cup and pencil whilst someone strangled an auto tuned goat.

Lyrically of course the 80s and 90s were better. I'd be a fool to even compare the 2 eras. But the 2000s weren't as bad as we think.

Of course, you can see the clear downward trajectory of talent/skills from the 70s to 80s to 90s to 00s to now where people can't sing, dance or rap but want to be famous anyway and are pushed by labels to fools based on how they look/their "swag"/some other frivolous shyt.

People used to hone their craft and do it for the love and then get rich whereas now everyone wants to get rich, ain't got no love for the art and have never bothered learning the skills because they're too busy making it rain/staying fresh/popping bottles.

If the early 2000s is as bad as yall say, post some examples breh lol. Yall nikkas trippin lol.

If you compare it to the 90s and other decades, of course it's gonna look bad. The 2000s doesn't have a Whitney or a Mariah, an MJ, Janet or Prince. There are NO ICONS. but it wasn't that bad overrall

Aaliyah- AAliayh album
Usher- 8701 and Confessions
R kelly- Tp2.com
Tweet- Southern Hummingbird
Toni Braxton- the heat
Ashanti- first album.
Keyshia cole- Just like you and The way it is

NOt even gonna name all the Neo Soul artists that dominated in that decade

I love the R&B of the 00’s especially in the early part of the decade. Some of my favorite contemporary R&B records have dropped during that time. I think it’s underrated in comparison to 90’s R&B but not underrated in general.

My mid 2000’s is my favorite. That is when you really started to see the heavy amount of hip hop and r&b features and eventually turned to the point where r&b singers are rapping and singing.
