A.) 4'5 is not slow

B.) All of them have qualities/abilities to make up for their lack of great speed. And how many of them got drafted early?

C.) All this shyt yall talking bout receivers, when my while point was about running backs.

How many successful runningbacks out there running a 4.8? Not many. If I'm taking a running back, he better be quicker than a lineman/linebacker
4.8 is REALLY slow for a RB unless youre a FB. you have QBs running faster then that.

fukk, brandon jacobs ran a sub 4.6 40....

shyt, :jawalrus: ran a 4.8 I think

Rice was built for timing offenses and was prolly the best route runner ever.

there is a story (might be an urban legend but w/e) that Rice ran a 40 right after his first one with the same time. and he did it like 3 times in a row without much fluctuation.

basically Rice wasnt a sprinter, but he was consistent.

Interesting. He did say someting to the effect of "you may beat me in a race, but you wont run routes as good as me". Which is in line with what you're saying.

Like Terrell Davis, he was fast as hell with pads on.

Mike Vick is a 4.3 but with pads on he's  4 flat.

congrats, you dont seem to know much about football.

majority of prolific receivers dont have 4.2- low 4.4 speed.

welker, boldin, fitz, marshall, dez, bowe...all clocked at 4.5+

40 yard time is one of the most overrated metric to measure football players

:comeon: Don't kid yourselves. Being faster always helps, especially if you have skill. Skill + athletic ability is what usually makes guys ELITE in every running an jumping sport. Andre, Calvin, Moss, Owens are easily the best WRs in recent memory and run 4.4 or faster + had great skills. I think Larry got faster after he came to the league, he was def faster than 4.6 back when Warner was in Arizona. Its the reason why 40s have to be run again in the NFL combine because some dudes can become faster after they get stronger/more powerful in college. Some get slower and don't adjust to the added weight or their running technique becomes poor.

My Pops Forever RIP
Hoping Jets draft him with their first pick. Hopkins is best receiver in this draft to me.

At 9?

I mean, WR is something they could use, but the Jets only have 7 picks and other more pressing needs.

Even if we pick Hopkins, Holmes and either Edwards/Hill will start with Kerley at the slot. Jets should push back WR til 2014.

Round 1-5 should be dedicated towards drafting starters at key positions (RB, guard, TE, OLB, S are MUSTS)

it helps to have more speed, but it is of no indication about the quality of a receiver

straight line speed without pads....is irrelevant as to indicate whether a WR will be good or bad. obviously if someone runs sub 4.2 or over 4.8, the extremes, that should tell you something

and no, fitz never got faster. his game is not speed. he doesnt run go routes often at all.
