The best selling album to drop this year has only sold 732,000.
However 3 other albums sold more but were released last year.

Ross still has the best selling rap album to drop this year 385,000...but mmlp2 sold more this year 495,000 in 2014 (2.2 million total).

From Jan 1, 2014 till now only 16 albums have sold 500k or more, and 4 of them are various artist compilations.

both the artist and fans to blame for this

ill put more of the blame on artists though simply because they give us hardly anything to really want and buy.. They put out microwave music. None of this shyt is timeless music that we NEED. Just some shyt for us to listen to til the next shyt drop

fukking DJ mustard got like 6 songs from 6 different albums with those albums main singles having the same exact beat How or why we supposed to support that ? None of these new artists have STAR power either and thats because the labels are so confused on who to push.

On the flip side, these non star artists are making more money than ever before because of social media + the money they can get from performing in clubs/touring while being independent (bobby shmurda )

ive probably listened to more All Eyez On Me, 400 Degreez, etc this year than new releases
