I wouldnt bet on deron and brook lopez staying healthy all season. With each one of them picking up the slack for the major contributors departing, I dont see them holding up well.
It really depends on the coach too. Do you think a good coach would go there with the lack of youth and flexibility needed to improve? It would almost be like signing up just to get this team through a couple dark years.
Lionel Hollins has interviewed twice and seems to be the pick. He's a good coach who doesn't have a job and if he rights the ship and keeps this team in that 45 win range I'd be more than pleased.
Who are the major contributors we are losing? Blatche had a bad year, Livingston was good but he can be replaced because he wasn't giving us any offense to begin with. The only loss would be Pierce if he goes, and he's not the difference between 45 wins and 25. Again Johnson, Deron and Brook carried a worse roster in 2012-2013 to 49 wins, so if they are out there I'm not worried about this team being a disaster. Maybe I'm wrong about that but for 2 seasons they have shown they can be a successful regular season team.
Edit: Looks like Livingston could be replaced by Jack if we make that trade, so he'd be a good backup PG. Our Euro stash Bogdanovic did not sign an extension with his team so he could come over this summer and help with our bench scoring too.
The roster is not horrible, and 2 seasons from now just about everyone comes off the books outside of the rookies. We have an owner who has shown he will spend absurd money to put a winning team out there, so there's no reason to believe 2 years from now he won't open the checkbook again and re-tool the team when he can.
