When you're signing a Mo Williams and keeping K-Mart and trying to trade for a Thaddeus Young, you're clearly not trying to blow it up.

From a logical standpoint, assuming they can keep Rubio, blowing it up is what they should do, BUT, when you have a ten year playoff drought, you can't go through that again. Philly at least had some recent playoff success

You think thats a fond memory to Philly fans though? They blew it up shortly after. I just think the rebuild is inevitable for every team, and the smaller markets take longer to reconstruct. If the Wolves don't trade Love, they'll compete for the 7th or 8th seed. If they make the playoffs they'll have an noncompetitive first round series with the Spurs or Thunder. Once they're out, Love will go wherever he wants to sign, Martin will be even harder to trade, and all you'll have is the 21st pick because the teams in the east have worse records.

It boils down to two things, Flip shouldn't be coach and GM, and the Wolves can't get the most positive outcome for the future of the franchise by making the playoffs. Things would be different if you were in the east...look at how long the Hornets have been trash just to finally put things together. But the west is cutthroat, so the Wolves have to blow it up sooner rather than later.

Stack assets, keep the roster flexible, make smarter choices with lottery picks, and try to get lucky. There's almost nothing else to do besides that.

So are we all still assuming Bledsoe is going back to the Suns? There's reports coming out that the relationship between him and the Suns is going down in flames. Reminds me a bit of the Eric Gordon dilemma with the Hornets a few years ago. Any chance another team swoops in and lands him whether with an offer sheet or a sign and trade?

They'll still keep him until they get something for him or at the end of the season.

It would all be worth it at this point.
Wolves fans will take that at this point. Why? Realistically NOBODY expects this team even as a well run organization to compete for a title again. Realistically this team would be blowing it up to maybe get to this place again. Making the playoffs is like a mid-major getting to the NCAA Tournament. It sucks that expectations are lowered, but the cycle at the very least gotta be broken. At the very least, it gives guys like Dieng, Rubio, Pek, Bazz, even Lavine a shot at the playoffs and see what they can do when put in that position. That goes a long way because at least they know what they need to go to keep going there. By guaranteeing they won't see that, they won't stay and then you'll be banking on a bunch of nobodies to do it after them. Break that cycle at least. This team has a losing culture, a stench that you gotta get rid of. Making the playoffs can do that. Showing that even for a year, you didn't suck, will do that. Especially in the West, no one can say you lucked out, you backed in, etc. If the alternative is to wait til other team fall off, you'll be waiting forever.

In Flip's mind, he's only around til he can find a coach a couple of years down the line. How is sucking balls for 2 years gonna get you better candidates? How is losing Love, Rubio, and subsequently Pek gonna convince even your young guys to wanna stay? How is a dead empty building with an apathetic fanbase in the middle of winter gonna entice anyone to buy into what they're trying to do? Most of all, how do you overcome what could possibly be when it's all said and done the longest playoff drought in NBA history for a league where more teams get in than those that don't? The last team that did it was Golden State and it took an ownership sale for shyt to steer in the right direction. Can't bank on luck when you don't have any.

Do any other teams have significant capspace to offer Bledsoe an offer sheet?

Old Brooklyn
Taj for Bledsoe sign/trade

:leon:
Nah chill...
Unless yall would run a 2 point guard line up(Actually one of the best moves Woodson did w/ the Knicks by the way) & w/ Butler coming off the bench. But Taj has too much upside & NOah doesn't need to be the overwhelming big man anchor for yall.

To me, Taj is untouchable without K. Love being in the convo...

EDIT: Could we see a 3 team trade for Love though, Bledose & Taj to Minny, K. Love to ChiTown & Rubio & bits & pieces & picks to Phx?
