Nah I know how out of it Adelman was last year, I'm not one of those that thought he was still great off past reputation. Rubio still seemed more off than he usually was last season though.

that was due to how Rick used him. He cut off his balls to cater to Love and Martin and Barea which does nothing for Rubio. Anytime Rubio wanted to do what he knows how to do, Rick would bench him and let Barea freestyle everywhere. Flip on the other hand is designing a team suited for an offense Ricky can run to its max.

I remember a Knick game where they were down and then Ricky and Love had a crazy third quarter and put the Wolves ahead at the end of 3. Ricky went back to the bench and he looked like the game was over. Why? Because he knew Rick wasn't gonna let him play the 4th. No surprise, they lost the game. Rick had no faith in Rubio and had too much reliance on his guys because they knew his system.

that had nothing to do with it.

a) he's still a consultant for the team

b) his sons are still assistant coach and another in the front office. Whatever Adelman wanted he got, even if Flip hated it.

Rick was mentally gone because of his age and more importantly his wife's health. He was never the same after his wife's seizures.
