He's clearly worth today's max. But when the max used to mean great player who can win a title, naw, he was never worth that. Nowadays, DeRozan, Batum, Whiteside, Jordan and others are max players so clearly Al is worth the max.

Is he worth a 5 yr max to the Hawks? I think he will end up becoming one of the bad contracts do you think there is a chance the Hawks can move on from Horford or will they give him that full 5 yr max?

ATL…overly
We won 60 games and got to the ECF with him as our leader with a weak bench. I don't see how you don't see the value in Al. He's not the reason we got swept. That's on Bud not addressing the SF with a NBA vet who can start. Instead we use a 6'3.75 wing to defend LeBron and SF and wonder why our starting five efficiency
drop like a ton of bricks.

Al has value, but he's not worth a max deal to me. And yes the makeup of this team has issues, but in two consecutive playoffs vs. CLE we have been swept with two different wing players to try to slow down Bron and it didn't work either time. What difference did Al make vs. CLE in either year? You say he's not the reason we got swept but he got dominated by TT and looked scared as shyt both years. I don't see how you can look at that and want to run and give that guy a max contract

You give Al a max and its Joe Johnson 2.0. A good not great player who's best days are already past him. It will be a terrible deal, but these Hawks, same as those Hawks, will offer him a max deal without hesitation

Horford is a damn good player and he will get a max deal. But if he is your best player then the 2nd round is probably your ceiling. Now throw him out there with another elite player or two and then you would really see how valuable he is to a team. Plus I would like to see him go somewhere where he could actually play power forward for once. The man has been an center his whole career and we have never really got he chance to see what he could do playing with a 7 footer.

He wasn't even on TT like that. He spend most of his time switching due to Bud's scheme. He also guarded Love when Sap would getting his ass killed by Kevin.

Breh in the grand scheme of things Al is not worth a max deal and he was still MIA in the playoffs. I know Al is one of your favorite Hawks, but he's not worth it

Al has been playing out of position his entire career...

Playing with undersized power forwards who can't help him do much on the defenisve end, protecting the rim, or cleaning the glass...

Milsap was pretty good defensively this year but as usual when it was time to play a team like cleveland that can pound the glass he disappeared...

ATL need to hope Splitter gets healthy and can play center next to Handsome Horford... or move on from him and get a legit center to play next to him...

What do you do with Milsap though :jbhmm:

And people talking about not playing Al the max...uh...then who are you giving that money to? This year...or next year...or the year after that?

Al at Center is an All Star, a lot of people don't take that into consideration when looking at his game. He can play PF, but for this team he has to be a C, b/c Sap can really only play the 4, he's not a 3 under any circumstances.

Splitter is only good in spot minutes, you can't play him effectively more than 20 minutes a game and he's not a starter at this point in his career.

Millsap was our best player last yr, unless the Hawks get a great offer for him he's not going anywhere. If you don't pay Al the max and he doesn't come back for anything less than the max maybe you go after Biyombo or bring ZaZa back. IDK I'm just tired of being on the winning but not good enough to win a title treadmill and overpaying good players because we over value them
