He needs to change this starting 11, if Slimani is not starting over Vardy next game or at least next to him you know Ranieri isn't serious. He's 3 times better than Vardy. I'd take Mahrez out as well. At this point you might just need to send a statement to the squad that they're alp fukkboys who can get dropped

my guess is players wanted to leave but Leceister wouldn't let them as it would cheaper to keep them instead of signing new (better) players.
