A large part of the Florida general electorate is a reactionary hellhole. If there is one state that most explains Trump, it's Florida. It's a mix of small business gangsters, anti-socialism Cubans, rich North Easterners escaping state income tax and Boomer pensioners that stay in the villages. The state Democratic party is probably the worst in the country and the working class barely exists.

Changing the politics in that state takes long term organizing. It's not the type of thing you can do in the context of a political campaign.

I would give Bernie a chance in FL just cause of his volunteers. I understand the concerns but I hate when people bring up Andrew Gillum when talking about Bernie not being able to win there. That election was literally rigged. Not to mention the Florida Democratic Party hijacked Gillum's field organizing team and brought in a bunch of out of state Hillary For America alums to run it. It was a disaster

NYC brehs - who has more sway in NYC (think broadly, not just where you align) - Bloomberg or De Blasio (who's endorsing Sanders)?
Bloomberg has the money to make his sins disappear and also the rich class loves him. Stop and frisk, wiretapping mosques and was still able to change the law to get a third term :francis:

Bill de Blasio on the other hand is hated by everyone. Dirtbags in NYPD hated him from day one because he had dared not to fully support them killing Eric Garner :hhh:

Progressives dislike him because he hasn't done shyt. In his two terms he has zero accomplishments except universal pre-K. Public housing is in shambles as always, homelessness is still rising, his wife is running a billion dollar mental-health program which isn't doing shyt. And then he compounded all these problems by frivolously running for President :hubie:

He already said it so it's either go back on his word, or repeat himself. They're obviously going to need a retweaked canned answer going forward tho

The Castro/crazy socialism stuff is a flop. Bernie has a better chance of winning on those grounds if that's where they want to go.

But if the DSA left moans in tweets like these and the election is a referendum on deportations/borders Bernie will lose. Bernie's working class message might fall flat when the threat of immigration on a weakened labor force exists. I'm already getting Corbyn PTSD. Abolish 90% of the online left. Some Dems complain about Bernie's old thoughts on guns/immigration but if that Bernie existed today he would win 40 states lol

The problem here is that the DSA left is the muscle of his campaign. They're his praetorian guard, and if he fukks around and starts moderating, he's liable to end up like Julius Ceasar. As you said, AOC, his biggest shooter, is probably going to have a VERY tough time with this. I think he just has to wait until he's got the nomination wrapped up before starting to pivot, because then they'll have nowhere else to go. What that pivot would spell for his Presidency, I don't know.

We can with without that lunatic state. We need to end the negativeinfluence Cubans and Jews in Florida have on our foreign policy.
Bernie's entire model of Presidential power is marshaling an unprecedented wave of citizens in the streets to march, demanding these policies, and engage in a massive, prolonged siege against the establishment political status quo. It's a long shot in the best of circumstances, he absolutely cannot afford to write off the 3rd most populous state in the nation. I think twitter bubbles have warped a lot of leftist's perspectives about how self-evidently popular the agenda is. Not saying he can't stake out politically difficult positions, just don't think he can afford to be so flippant about the unbaptized.

I've seen this theory floated around and get that sense from some of my friends. I still find it a little weird that after being antagonized and trolled for three years by the monster in the WH, we're not seeing record turnout everywhere to at the bare minimum to send a message to him. Even taking into account the superstar Obama was, 500k increase in the population of NV + early voting for week + intense Trump hatred + GOTV campaign by Bernie should have made up for that difference.
It’s nothing but an armchair theory, but I think a lot of people have “twitter outage” over trump but still aren’t truly outraged enough to get up and let. I don’t know all the reasons why, but I think hashtag activism is a part of it, and I think some people are turning away because they want to think the problem will work itself out on its own.

There’s a lot of Mexican and Puerto Rico voters in Central Florida from what I read and they’re targeting that group.
