I’m going to be real with you, you sound ridiculous. Colin Kaepernick is holding a know rights camp right now. No, people do not know their rights. Please stop insulting my intelligence as a black man and as an attorney. This is the type of shyt that goes beyond politics of any candidate that genuinely makes me angry. Everything else on here is jokes. Bernie Sanders said what every black father says to their son and answered that as well as a white man could. The fact that you claimed Warren is the only one who didn’t fumble the ball this weekend is hilarious. Warren and Biden straight up didn’t answer the question and said some general bullshyt about how you shouldn’t have been stopped at all. In other words, typical white liberal “I feel your pain but I don’t have the answers,” type nonsense. In fact, I’m bothered by how terribly she answered that question given the fact that she heard Bernie asked it the day before and had the chance to lay out actual policy and didn’t have a damn thing. She had a whole day and came out with some flowery random we must do better bullshyt. Julian Castro seems to be the only who does and it’s because he comes from that. The question was, “if I was your son?” Sometimes I really wonder about some of you guys and your relation to blackness and if you’re gaslighting me with the shyt you say on here. Every single person I showed that clip to agreed with what he said but you’re just picking at random insignificant shyt. He said to do what they say so you don’t get shot in the head to begin with. That’s the most honest thing any candidate said. Are you guys looking for someone who is honest or will make you “feel heard?” You guys aren’t operating in good faith, and just looking for a way to advocate for your preferred candidate like this is a game. Imagine stanning fukking politicians. Sorry, I just had to get that off because it’s been irking me all weekend. Y’all can proceed with the nonsense in here.

I'm in about the same boat as you - undecided but leaning towards Warren.

However I'll vote Democrat in the general regardless, anybody is better than Trump.

So this time, no compromise. If it comes down to convention time and the party just hands Biden the nomination, I'm not voting for him.

If the media is somehow successful at installing Warren into first place, I'll laugh my ass off as she loses to Trump and Dems learn NOTHING again.

But none of this matters. Bernie will be the nominee.

You're giving only one half of The Talk (the way things are) but not giving the other half (why things are this way and how to change it). That was the problem with Bernie's answer. It's disempowering and normalizes this fukked up intolerable state of affairs. It doesn't educate your child or spur them to engage in the type of civic activity needed to change the system. I don't think it was a horrible answer or disqualifying or anything, just incomplete. But I only saw what was being sent around in that clip, so maybe he gave a more complete answer later on.

If you are only telling your kid to be subservient so they can come home alive, you're failing as a father and complicit in the perpetuation of the system of white supremacy. You're giving only one half of The Talk (the way things are) but not giving the other half (why things are this way and how to change it). That was the problem with Bernie's answer. Do you think parents aren't teaching their children this and that children aren't getting firsthand experience seeing how the police operate?

1) No, I don't believe that black children on average are sufficiently educated on the various nexus points and intricacies of white supremacy and the ways it manifests itself. You're the one parroting a sheltered and naive perspective if you think otherwise. You're essentially saying Know Your Rights efforts are unnecessary. Really stupid post.

2) Teaching your child how to survive a police interaction is only one half of the equation. You must also teach them how to fight back against that entrenched power structure. Some black parents do both. Mine did. But again you're exposing yourself as naive if you think we're at a place in the black community where the majority of black kids are routinely participating in police accountability actions or voting in local law enforcement elections and making demands of their elected officials. If you think the status quo with regards to black political and civic participation is sufficient, that's on you.
