Guys, just be fukking fair and honest. Admitting that Warren's whole Native American debacle is a liability doesn't mean you have to renounce her. Ignoring it is just being disingenuous. I don't think it will be an issue that sinks her electibility, but how naive do you have to be to think this topic won't be breached again? It was a major issue and she wasn't even running for the office yet, but somehow now it won't matter?

I can't believe some of you think this won't matter to people who literally voted for Bush over Kerry cuz he'd be more fun to drink beer with.

It may be an old attack, but the public hasn’t seen the full extent of it yet. The details of it are worse than I thought and the public doesn’t really know her yet.

I agree that hopefully any fallout from it can be offset by her bold policy vision. I think it’s foolish to dismiss though, especially considering as of now she isn’t polling well against Trump and is in the margin of error and will thus need to attract new voters, particularly in the rust belt to win.

I'm not talking about us in here, I'm talking about the election and news cycle that has to be fed 24/7 with anything BUT policy and governance information.

John Kerry being slammed for calling the Packers home stadium "Lambert Field", Obama and Rev. Wright, Clinton dodging gunfire in Bosnia, and a dozen of other completely minor issues that have nothing to do with anything substantive other than painting a narrative to attack and are made into topics of discussion by Republicans and the media.

It's not about being outraged. It's about not being silly enough to pretend that this issue won't come up again. Distraction from substance is the only way Rethugs can win because their policies are disastrous. So why would they not hammer on something that they don't even have to manufacture because it's already gift wrapped for them?

Warren has her faults but the NA thing is certainly not one of them.

You keep repeating this and it's actually not true. You're regurgitating the Trump/Republican smear. The motivation behind her identification with Native American ancestry was genuine, but still wrong. Her crime is ignorance, not malice or greed. She, like very many white people from the Oklahoma area, believed family tales about having Native American descent. She was too credulous about this family lore and went too far with it, but there is no evidence she personally benefited from this self-identification. Harvard did. Boston Globe looked into this and debunked the smear.

Repeating the smear to remind us what the Republican smear-machine will be saying is useful, but repeating it gullibly is a bad look.
