I went to a Warren town hall last week, down the street from my place, and I was impressed with her, her policies aren't always things I am so passionate about, in terms of the middle class stuff, but I am in favor of them. She does come off a bit grandmotherly though, and I wish a candidate had Warren's rising popularity, and Harris age, and disposition. Not that women or people can't be different, and each have they're own strengths, but given the gravity of the election, it is a nagging concern. I would vote for any Democratic nominee though, period.

Bernie always talks about racial justice. Has for decades. You guys keep saying "black issues" equals reparations and only reparations. And Bernie is the only candidate you do this with. Biden said black people are bad parents. Warren pretended to be a POC for most of her life. Harris and Yang haven't said anything substantial about racism.

You have anxiety because Bernie is old. You're looking for reasons to discount him.

Meanwhile, a female Bernie supporter is assaulted. Im guessing the media won't be making it a big story.

If you went to other threads, you'd know we do this with all of them, except Marianne Williamson. Black people don't care if Warren pretended to be Native. That's a Native problem. We only care if she's backing reparations. Which is she, tentatively, is. And even for that she's been criticized.

Of course Bernie is gonna get attention in a Bernie thread especially when he's talking about racial justice and walking with MLK but dodges reparations. He talked about racial justice in 1993, but threw black people under the bus for white women.

Most of us know that he's top 3 if not top 2 candidates in terms of popularity and policy. But we're not gonna forget what he did last time and make sure we hold his feet to the fire this time because of it.

But continue to fight the good fight, sir.

Warren is NOT for reparations, Bernie did not dodge the issue, and the crime bill was widely popular among black people at the time, and the violence against women act was not limited to white women, and Bernie voted against tons of other crime bills.

Cleared all that up for you. Why do you keep telling falsehoods about this one particular candidate?

But you didn't though.

  • Warren was the 2nd candidate to support HR 40 and reparations. Unless you have link that shows otherwise.
  • Bernie has been dodging the issue of reparations. There's a video of a young lady asking him and he bolted from that. And another gentleman asking him about it and they tried to arrest for it.
  • Gang violence was high and black people did support something being done. But Bernie himself said it was a bad idea then voted for it anyway. His reason? There was a late addition of the violence against women act thrown on their to blackmail people into voting. Now you tell me, what do you think the proportion of white women to POC women are in Vermont?
  • And I'm glad he voted against other crime bills, but this one did the most damage. And he knew it was wrong.

Warren said she'd consider forming a committee to research the issue.

Bernie directly and correctly stated that it's too divisive right now. The best chance for reparations is in Bernie's second term. If the Dem candidate has reparations in their 2020 platform, THEY WILL LOSE. Trump will complete the fascist takeover and then reparations NEVER HAPPENS.

And they didn't arrest that guy for asking a question. He had his phone in one hand abd reached into his pocket with the other while approaching a senator. He got shown the door. It was a mistake but security can't be too careful.

It wasn't a Vermont-only bill. It was national. And you know this.

He admits it was wrong. Biden wrote the damn thing and never apologized.

Do you want X more years of Trump? Biden is falling out. Trump would wipe the floor with the library lady. Trump never even came up with a nickname for Bernie. Bernie went on Fox and got their audience to side with him. Bernie has networks cutting away as soon as black interviewees say they support Bernie.

Writing's ob the wall. It's Bernie. Are you ageist? Is there another reason you scrutinize the guy?

I don't like Bernie's phrasing on the HR 40 bill. It makes it sound like he's not for it but if it's passed in the House and Senate then he's ok with that.

That exactly what it is. That is one of the reasons he is criticized more than Warren on this issue.
It's a difference in worldview. Warren is more natural and comfortable talking about racial justice because she's a deeply intersectional thinker. You can see it in her plans and the way she communicates them. Bernie isn't as comfortable talking about these issues because he's an old-school labor-liberal who believes in a class-first worldview.
