I don’t know that I’d label it black professional class, depends on what you mean by that, was a lot of walks of life there (no college, college, grad school - smallest set of people) - it was attached to a comedy show.

and I did the isidewith quiz and the one by the wapo
Ah. Well that’s more interesting. In my experience, black people our age are progressive but as black people we are used to bullshyt so some of it is a hard sell. Most Warren and Bernie voters I know are voting based on upside and the floor of either of them versus a moderate who might actually push right wing shyt.

Participation is headed in the right direction now, but man at this point we sound a little delusional not giving him some credit for the economy. We've been predicting things would crash and burn since 2017, but it's remained steadfast and will continue to hold up with the Fed being anti-Bernie/Warren and Trump about to install one of his stooges on the Fed board. They're going to prop up this economy through the election. Dems need to be prepared to hone their messaging around Trump's other weaknesses - corruption, poor character, and healthcare b/c right now Trump has like a 65% approval rating of his handling of the economy.
Touting “the economy is good” shouldn’t be enough for him. The economy somehow apparently being “good” doesn’t change the lack of health care and wealth inequality in this country. The economy being “good” does not impact the average person

I agree with you. At the same time, the economy was growing more under Obama's 2nd term than now, more jobs were created then than now. We've had economic growth for 11 years now.

Also, vast majority of Americans being paycheck to paycheck is not a good thing and the Fed backs this data up.

I think healthcare and corruption are the winning messages. Bernie's been talking more about what happened in 2017 when the GOP was one vote away from repealing the ACA in the Senate, knocking 32M off insurance, cutting Medicaid, putting budgets to cut Medicare, the administration supporting a lawsuit to repeal the entire ACA RIGHT NOW in court.

Which IMO shows him sort of 'moderating' his messaging as the primary goes on.

The employment rate and peoples retirement accounts would beg to differ

People are working but living paycheck to paycheck.

Seniors working longer.

Bernie would probably hammer Trump on these points and bring the receipts of Trump's own budgets and recent rhetoric in Davos of cutting Medicare and Social Security on a loop.

I agree that healthcare/corruption are important. But I really think the Dems should be talking more about Trump's general incompetence, and how much he's decreased out standing in the world.

People are used to it by now but that doesn't mean he gets a pass. I really don't think Dems talk nearly enough about how much Trump is ruining the country's reputation.

Also I think the Dems do a disservice by just not talking about climate change nearly enough. It's literally a Red Alert type of issue but they rarely talk about how urgent it really is to address.

The point they're trying to make is this doesn't apply for the majority of Americans. However, where they seem to he missing the point is because of that the majority of Americans don't expect to be financially solvent enough to retire and it's been that way for generations.

Merely appealing to how it ought to be assumes that people haven't only accepted the current reality and are also okay enough with it.

The difference is Republicans stay on code and they're giving Trump the credit for the economy based on easily digestible and readily available information.

this has been true for awhile tho...americans always been a savings poor country, and part of working longer is longer lives. these are general points that always come up when discussing "the average american" but not statement makers IMO
