My point was just say you don't like his policies. Just say that.
He's more liberal than Manchin.
But you'd hate him regardless of what letter is next to his name.
He's literally everything you hate. Centrist. Wealthy. Tough on crime.
Again, your initial point is people can't criticize Bernie for not being a Democrat, but like bloomberg because he was a republican at some point. But the people you're attempting to project this on are moderate or aren't off put by moderate policies.
Further, the criticism of Bernie is simple. He wants to reform a party he isn't a part of nor wants to be a part of.
If he hates the Dem platform he should run Third party and start his revolution. But he doesn't because he knows he needs the party he hates to further his own ambition.
Sure, Bloomberg's policies more or less align with the Dem Party right now. I'd even say he's on a Bernie or Liz-lite path.
But I’m looking at his record
And my initial point is about the absurdity. We have a Republican Mayor of NYC who was gung-ho about the Bush administration and was terrible on civil liberties. Black people, Latinos, and Muslims were either stopped and frisked or surveilled. He just went ahead with the elimination of the 4th amendment. He banned bagel donations to the homeless. Like WTF breh...
Bernie has been caucusing with the Dems his entire time in Congress. He’s in the leadership of the Dem conference in the US Senate.
He has stood up for programs like Social Security the entire time.
Bloomberg was talking about cutting entitlements just a few years ago.
Has Sanders ever said he hated the Democratic Party? Made it his personal enemy? No. Could he have started a movement outside of the party when he was younger? Yes. But did he have ambitions outside of Vermont? I don't think he did. He only ran for President in 2016 because Elizabeth Warren didn't run.
And we're in a two-party system. He'd never run for the presidency on a 3rd party ticket not with trying to win back the Senate. Its one thing to do it in Vermont, its another for the whole country.
Bloomberg can do what he wants. Its good he's put his money to use on gun control. On climate change. That's fine. I have no problem with him using his own money as a huge ass Super-PAC in the general election for whoever the nominee is. Its the corrupt system we have which is disgusting. Trump and RNC will have the resources and the dark money will flood in October as it did in October 2016 which was a big reason why the Dems didn't win the Senate.
