“Options” are a cop out and a complete hedge. If one option is being attacked or not well liked or doesn’t poll well Bernie can just minimize that option and point to the other options. It becomes a shell game. So then his funding plan morphs to fit whatever audience he is in front of. You can’t evaluate the cost benefit because there are no details. This is Bernie’s signature proposal. You can’t be serious about passing M4All and not have the nuts and bolts of a plan already ready.

It took took Liz to actually come in and provide an actual framework to pay for Bernie’s signature program. And Bernie supporters immediately beat her down because “things, ya know”

This is the same thing the Republicans did with the corporate tax cuts. “Trust me, this will benefit society as a whole” but like Bernie, never filled in the details on where the money comes from.
You know this shyt ain't above board when half of his supporters are saying "He has a funding plan! Look at all these options!" and the other half are agreeing with him when he says "I don't feel like I have to provide a funding plan right now." :coffee:

Most of them were running with Matt Breunig's suggested funding plan like it came from Bernie himself :heh:

No, I'm saying that people on the internet talk shyt and they shouldn't pretend to be offended.
They're talking shyt to real people. In 2020 we have to stop pretending threats on the internet is okay behavior.

Considering the amount of doxing and online to offline violence we've seen I think it's safe to say that firewall has been broken.

I’ve actually wondered how much he is paying people (because he has to be paying them). Is it like a couple grand or is he breaking them off a couple hundred bands?

Side note I saw Lucy McBath supported him or something recently. That was disappointing to see. Considering her story (ie her sons story) the political game has already got her in its clutches it sounds like.

NYT Writer Accuses Dem Rep of Being Bought by Bloomberg
He has all sorts of ways. Like “scholarships” to his leadership programs. That’s tens of thousands of dollars. shyt is embarrassing. This might be the one that makes me not vote if he gets this nomination. I was in that stop and frisk NYC when cops only didn’t fukk with me because they saw my alma mater on my hoodie.

I’m just ignoring that goof from now on. It’s like talking to a brick wall and I’m not sure if he’s intentionally being obtuse or that’s just his baseline.

Who did you steal it from? :troll:

still puts us in a problematic position. If he does “win” the biggest thing we could hope for is him at minimum putting moderate judges in the SC.

I think his nomination would be the only truly problematic one. I think we could skate by with Biden/Pete/Amy for a term or two until we can get someone more progressive

Y'all "I was just about to support Warren before she went and actually tried to win, now I'm truly disappointed :(" dudes make me laugh :mjlol:
It ain’t about that. It’s about slandering the only other person on the left in the race and giving left-wing credence to bad faith centrist arguments. She didn’t have to go out like this. She tried to call him a sexist to stop the bleeding from her campaign and it blew up in her face and she’s been petty like this ever since. She saw Klobuchar coming up for the women vote and tried a one-two punch of consolidating the feminist vote and some of the progressive vote from Bernie. It failed and was a terrible strategy. It’s the same way Kamala failed to take down Biden. You look cool on stage but ultimately turns a lot of people off if it appears scripted. It is unlike her. I just think that she was advised wrong and now she’s angry. Maybe she is angling to be the VP for a centrist? I’m genuinely confused.

I mean you’re a fukking clown, first of all. Secondly I have donated to her campaign a number of times when I still believed she was a progressive. Big follower supporters on twitter of hers are jumping ship after 2 states. Her stint as a “progressive” is over

Yeah, say what you want about him but Biden would appoint a fair number of progressive judges and he would try to get one big signature achievement. Bloomberg would be Trump but tougher on gun control and less blatant racism. He’s the liberal NYC racist to Trump being the Republican one.

Article on Bloomberg videos

Meanwhile, in a conference room at his Times Square headquarters, the mayor assembled about 20 black pastors for a pre-scheduled meeting that lasted more than two hours and included face time with Bloomberg. The meeting was originally planned to discuss Bloomberg’s latest initiative aimed at helping African Americans, but the recording quickly came up.

The episode broke at an important juncture for Bloomberg. The billionaire businessman has gone virtually unchecked by rivals even as he’s bombarded the country with hundreds of millions in TV ads, amassed a staff of nearly 2,500 and risen steadily in polls, including among African Americans. His candidacy has gained steam on the strength of his unlimited checkbook and the weakness of his Democratic opponents, none of whom look poised to run away with the nomination.

For anyone else the scratchy tape — on which Bloomberg argued that the only way to get guns out of the hands of young “minorities” is “to throw them up against the wall and frisk them” — would pose a potentially fatal blow to their candidacy.

But Bloomberg, in the roughest 48 hours of his young campaign, rallied a vast network of black surrogates and community leaders whose causes he’s backed or personally invested in to vouch for his character as he works to contain the firestorm.

One pastor in particular pressed Bloomberg, who began his presidential campaign by apologizing for his race-based policing policies.

“We accept your apology at one level, but we want to let you know that we’ll be looking for more concrete expressions of your apology in terms of the African American community,” said Calvin Butts, a Harlem pastor who attended the meeting, describing the line of questioning from a different clergy member in attendance. Butts called it a “genuine” exchange, and “not hostile”; Bloomberg was quiet and “accepted what was being said to him.”

Butts said Bloomberg’s financial support of causes important to black New Yorkers throughout his time in office and after helps alleviate concerns about his past embrace of the policing tactic stop and frisk. Butts recalled Bloomberg offering his economic development operation a handsome check in 2008, timed to the bicentennial of his Abyssinian Baptist Church. “He used his money, which is one of the reasons I continue to support him, to express his sincerity,” Butts said.

By the end of the day Tuesday, Bloomberg's team had a damage control plan in motion.
