this is a great video. but I've timestamped the relevant part.

Bernie has explained over and over again what he means by Democratic Socialist. What he actually explains is a Social Democracy. But this is America, and the "Democratic" part has to be said before the "Socialist" part or your DOA politically (it's a miracle he isn't already)

He's never accepted that lable. He always corrects people when they try to call him a socialist.

He's accepted it at times in his career. He didn't when he started out in politics and he usually tries to correct people now, but there were definitely periods where he accepted it, possibly simply due to fatigue. He does try to explain what he means by it but some folk just wanna play dumb.
