The party would be smart to adjust this primary schedule then because polling does have an affect on fundraising. Put states like Virginia and Nevada first to give some of these minority candidates a better chance for long-term viability. If I was in party leadership, I'd feel some shame this morning that quality candidates like Harris/Booker/Castro were not on that stage last night but Bloomberg and all of his smugness was. There is something seriously wrong with this picture.

I agree wholeheartedly. It’s not lost on me that a white leftist or white progressive like Sanders or Warren are more capable of getting donations. It’s also not lost on me that rich white people choosing winners based on white ass states (I.e. Pete and Amy) should not be a thing. Obama nearly lost after Clinton took New Hampshire because the donors were ready to shift. He had to gut it out in the South. Iowa bought him time. If he lost both of those then he would have lacked the money going forward. There’s no reason that the primary calendar should not start with actual swing states in Michigan, Wisconsin and Arizona.

I do believe some (like Abrams/Landrieu) made this calculation, particularly with the good economy. My counterpoint to them would be that Trump is still very unpopular and the Republican bench is pretty deep for 2024/28.

Publicans going go super hard against China in 2024 as part of their message when Trump/Mitch are gone since those are the main non compliers. You already see it now.

You know despite Warren's awesome performance last night, the day after I come away feeling a bit depressed about this field. We're basically down to four white 70 yr olds for the Democratic nomination brehs. This was not my expectation for the post-Obama era.

been my gripe from jump. any one of them wins, other than maybe warren, who'd still be old, it's a one term president. opening up a dem primary again after just four years plus an invigorated republican party ready to take the white house back, just seems like a terrible position to be in.
