if Donna Shalala has to defend this shyt she's finished. And she was part of the Blue Wave in 2018!Yeah this is the trial ballon. They bout to pin every atrocity committed by a communist regime on Bernie's head and make Democrats defend it. It's honestly their best play. Prepare to see hundreds of thousdands of dead bodies piled up by the Khmer Rouge and Soviet Union on your tv screens for the next 9 months.![]()
I was playing around with tax calculators between the USA and the UK to see what the difference is.
If you make $50,000 in the US, that’s roughly $38,000 after tax (may vary by state). I get that people contribute to 401ks and health plans but imma keep it simple.
The equivalent of $50,000 in the U.K. is 38,618 pounds. That’s roughly 29,796 pounds after UK taxes are taken out which is equivalates back to $38,577 in US dollars. The UK workers makes roughly the same post tax earnings in terms of purchasing power as the US worker.
If you jump the salary to $150,000, the US worker has roughly $100,700 after tax (may vary by state). The U.K. worker ($115,854 is the British Pound equivalent of $150,000) has 72,557 pounds after tax which is roughly equivalent to $93,900 in US dollars on a post tax basis. It’s $7,000 more than the US person had to pay but in the scheme of things it’s not a big deal.
Why is it that the British pay a comparable tax rate to us but they have various social services that we don’t in America![]()

I wonder what would happen if a Democratic presidential candidate campaigned on universal healthcare while Republicans spent years calling him a socialist.

You claimed her proposal was Medicare-for-Some and it's not, her proposal is Medicare4All with a two-step transition plan as opposed to Bernie's one step plan.
Yes she will be negotiating within her party i e vs insurance lobbyist. The amenable aspect to warren's plan is the fact that it has qualifications and thats where I feel it will get watered down to the point that only the those in poverty will qualify. You claimed her plan would be watered down by Republican bullying, while it's actually Bernie's plan that would have to be negotiated with Republicans. Liz's plan was designed to avoid that and just require negotiation within the Democratic coalition. Her winning vote is Joe Manchin, Bernie's winning vote is Mitch McConnell.
Whether you believe Liz is "too bendable" to deliver on universal healthcare is a different discussion, but seeing as universal healthcare will not be deliverable by anyone in the next 4 years, I don't see the value in having that discussion. I'm interested in expanding free, comprehensive health care coverage to as many people as possible, and I believe Warren's plan is the best route to achieve that goal.
I'm also a fan of a movement of the American people, which is why I'm a fan of Warren's position that you need a movement pushing from the outside and a leader doing all they can from the inside in order to enact true progressive change. Plans are the weapons wielded by the insider.

You can't distance yourself from the guy leading the ticket. Republicans don't do that shyt. She does't have to, dummy.
That's not how voting works.
