I'm trying to understand how you both are arguing against canceling student loan debt because it would be unfair to the people who already paid it off. But then you were arguing against student loan debt because it bailed out rich white folk.
Considering we know as fact that black students have been hit harder by student debt...why are you pretending to care about the rich white folk who paid off their debt?

They should get a tax credit because that's the only way to make this palpable and why there needs to be means testing. We already know voters will cut off their collective nose to spite their collective face, so the idea that you could just give those who already paid their loans nothing off is politically untenable. The goal is to maintain power as long as you can so you can pass as much legislation as you can. You can't do that while alienating suburban soccer moms and middle-managers who are concerned with "fairness."So what are we doing for the people who paid off their student loans.
