I realize this is the primary but doesn't it seem like a lot of campaigns just tried to wing it? I guess the nominee will get an infusion of money but isn't your ground game in the primary a good indication of your setup in the general?

Yea. Before it was more opaque. You had candidates being selected in Breton Woods type back room dealings. Now it’s pretty fair. Pledged delegates represent the public. Superdelegates are a coalition of various Washington officials, their peers. I understand why the safeguard is there. Obama was able to flip the majority into his favor despite not being their initial pick. So.......yea. And if you can’t gather enough superdelegates, which is essentially just getting the support and backing of other politicians, what does that say about your ability to get anything done once you are in office?

It’s crazy how you can watch videos of Bernie and his team in 2016 saying in PLAIN ENGLISH “we’re going to go after superdelegates” and yet there’s a thousand comments from Bernie Bros on there saying they didn’t mean that and that it’s somehow different :stopitslime: fukking cult I swear.

Bernie wanted to eliminate super delegates completely... DNC said no and “compromised” by moving them to second round. The reason Bernie hung around was because if you remember Hillary was under investigation by the FBI, if she got indicted he was there to take over.

Right now Biden has the most Superdel support at like 70. The rest of the main contenders are around 20 with hundreds undecided. The issue last time was due to people getting more information from the internet and seeing the actual delegate count vs what was shown on TV after Iowa

Times change and I think the DNC knew if they continued to go this route it could depress turnout and hurt the party as petty as it seems to traditionalist.
