Don't forget the JPP situation years back.
That was pretty bad. Don’t know how you have a job after that. To make matters worse, ESPN stays blowing his ego up with the way they treat him. The things they do for clicks, I guess.

To drop that news on draft day and overshadow all the hard work those young guys put in to even make it to that day is such an a$$hole move.

My intuition told me that story was likely bullshyt anyways. Like yeah, A-Rod has voiced his frustrations before but nothing as concrete as wanting out was ever hinted. Rodgers is actually pretty down to earth from the many segments I’ve seen on McAfee’s show. He doesn’t seem like the kind to stoop down to that level and drop such news on an impactful day like the draft.

Mahomes should already know that's part of the contract after he was playing basketball that one offseason and the Chiefs basically told him to shut that down.
Broncos have a way to get out of a contract they don't want on their books. If Jones was a valuable player, the Broncos would more than likely pay his salary even though they don't have to. The Ravens did that with Suggs.

there's a difference between playing basketball and doing football workouts

the nflpa is telling players not to work out at team facilities without letting them know of the possible consequences

Edit: It does look like he was doing team approved activities, not just doing his own workout. What makes his situation egregious is the fact he wanted to work out at the facility but the PA told him not to, so they were directly involved with him losing money. The PA also apparently told him to opt out last season because there wouldn't be that many games played.

It's exactly what he did and why ESPN and the NFL have no problem with it. He essentially used the story and info that he had to help drive viewers to the draft to see what would happen even at the expense off overshadowing the young incoming players. That story and situation essentially saved ratings as the NFL was expecting them to come even lower than what they ended up being.

If Rodgers does end up being traded (I think he will), then it would more than likely be post June 1st once GB can reduce the cap hit from the trade. That's why the story coming out when it did never made any remote sense other than to drive eyeballs to the draft.

Exactly.

If this was after June 1st, then I could see something happening, but it was extremely obvious it wasn't going to happen with his cap hit at the time of the draft.

I'm not a fan of Schefter. You can't say it's from "sources" and then say it was a "feeling" and "adding up everything" and then saying there were no sources.
